Does an eternity ring have to be a band ring with diamonds all or half way around?

Is it weird to go for a non-traditional style of eternity ring? Does that mean its not really an eternity ring then?

I would really like one as I didn't get an engagement ring!

Mine is full band but I also have a half band with larger diamonds and alternate (I joke the other ones from my lover)

Agreed with Labootin it can be whatever you want. It's quite common to get a three stone as an eternity ring.

I don't have one (not even married yet) but my Mum has a gorgeous Emerald and diamond three stone. Tis beautiful.

I am quite into jewellery so it's likely that I wouldn't choose one run of the mill either.

I agree that it can be whatever you want, I have a traditional half band, (because the diamonds in a full band that were in budget were titchy).
My mum has a gorgeous large emerald cut surrounded by bagettes decreasing in size that my dad designed for her for their golden anniversary.

I quite fancied a MUCH smaller and cheaper version of something like this in yellow gold.

Similar to this style anyway.

And see now I feel like a walls because that says engagement ring but I want something that has a slightly bigger round central stone and then small diamonds around the band.

Does that make any sense?!
