Please help me you lovely S&B ladies.

I am gonig to a festival next weekend and don't want to look like a total arse, but the uniform seems to be Hunter wellies (can't afford), short cut off denim shorts (thunder thighs and varicose veins - not a good loo) and tight little tops. I had thought maxi dress but if it is muddy this may not work!

What do festival goers of more mature years wear without looking like I am going on a walking weekend? help pleeease!

Layers. Lots of layers. I know the forecast is meant to be good but you will be surprised at just how cold it gets later on at night. I suggest short dresses with leggings. LOTS of socks so you can change them often. A hoody, pac-a-mac, sun hat, decent flat boots or wellies (if you go for wellies, get knee length socks to stop them rubbing up your leg) as you will do a lot of walking, couple of cardis not only for keeping warm but also to protect your shoulders if its hot, maybe a couple of skirts to wear with the aforementioned leggings and vest tops/t-shirts and finally, a large, lightweight scarf, useful for warmth and again for covering delicate skin in the sun.

Things you can peel off if it gets super hot, and can get on and off in a tent/portaloo.

Leggings under dresses/tunics are good, even tights are ok - I had some leopard print fishnets a couple of years ago which were good in the sun and in the colder evenings.

A cagoule is a must - a cag in a bag type is best. Lots of the cheap ones aren't actually waterproof.

If you're camping, you'll need some sort of hat for days 2 and 3.

Sun cream!
