Sally Hansen Airbrush legs or is there something better?

My legs are OK (ish) but quite pale with a few blemishes. I've seen Airbrush Legs recommended on here but am a bit put off by it being wash off - does that mean it will come off on my clothes if I get hot?

Failing that, I've tried a few of the gradual spray tans (the ones you spray on yourself I mean, not at a salon) and they seem quite good but can be a bit orange. Any recommendations for a good one?

Maybe try a body nronzing powder.

auldspinster · 09/07/2013 12:05

Airbrush legs is good and doesn't transfer. MAC face and body foundation is supposed to be good too.

CMOTDibbler · 09/07/2013 12:19

Airbrush legs doesn't shift without soap - I put some on on Saturday, then on Sunday ran 10k in the boiling hot (and sweat was running off me) and it still needed a loofah and soap to move it.

I use the MAC body foundation as part of a cover up combo on a large and vivid scar on my arm - its OK, but certainly transfers more than Airbrush

I bought some recently and although I got the pale one, it made my legs really dark orange and I had to scrub it straight off again. Am I doing something wrong?

MissBeehiving · 09/07/2013 12:38

kiri - are you spraying it on and then rubbing it in with a mitt?

CMOTDibbler · 09/07/2013 12:50

yes, though it says airbrush, you actually spray it on your hand or a mitt and then rub it in

CambridgeBlue · 09/07/2013 13:41

That all sounds positive and I'll make sure I use a mitt - thanks :)

Sorry for the hijack but does anyone know if it's any good for covering bruises?

CMOTDibbler · 09/07/2013 14:06

it covers bruises well, and much better than fake tan

needsomesongs · 09/07/2013 14:14

Great, thanks. My legs are quite brown at the moment but covered in small bruises and I'm a bridesmaid in a couple of weeks.

I have started using this after mil gave me loads of unopened ones. I have horrendous varicose veins and usually wouldn't be seen dead without tights. However its just too hot to even contemplate hold ups at the moment so am using it and thinking fuck it!

I make sure I moisturise my legs first and then apply sparingly as it is a bit orange! You have to rub it in quite quickly though to stop it going streaky.

Sparklegeek · 09/07/2013 16:47

Avon Skin So Soft Airbrush Spray. Builds up gradually, not instant colour. And you just spray & go, no rubbing in or waiting to dry etc. I put it on before bed & haven't used anything else in years. Gives a very natural colour.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 09/07/2013 17:45

Rimmel sun shimmer. Needs soap to come off, I like the sparkly one! Wearing it today with shorts, sat in a stuffy hairdresser for 3 hours sweating like a pig and my legs are lovely still ....my shorts are pale and there's no transfer. Cheap as you like too!!

SofaCanary · 09/07/2013 18:38

What colour Sally Hansen do you all use? I want to be golden not tangerine.

LemonBreeland · 09/07/2013 19:24

Can I piggyback on this thread and ask what I could use instead of a mitt, since I don't have one.

josiejay · 09/07/2013 19:29

St Moriz fake tan is brilliant - it's not a gradual tanner but goes on so easily that it's pretty foolproof. And mega cheap. I bought it after reading about it on MN and am most impressed.

ItsintheBag · 09/07/2013 19:43

I would buy a mitt lemon the one I had was only a cheap tesco or primark mitt but it was the best result.
I used this on my holiday I am very pale and veiny (nice!) and it was very orange I had to take it off.
I re- applied it exactly the way it said on the side of it with a mitt and it went on great.I got it into my head it was airbrush and just sprayed it on Blush

hollyisalovelyname · 09/07/2013 19:55

Airbrush does come off on clothes. I was wearing a white dress and there was some transfer.

cerealqueen · 09/07/2013 20:54

It'll last acoupleof days, even after shower if you don't soap your legs so seems to be waterproof too. I can't get through summer without it, can use on body too.

St Moritz tan available in Wilkinson too,

missbopeep · 09/07/2013 21:00

Has anyone tried the St Tropez wash off one?

I am using their gradual tan which is quite nice - in fair.

I've tried Rimmel and quite liked it but the pale one gave just a hint of colour- not enough tbh.

MoodyDidIt · 09/07/2013 21:20

airbrush legs is brill

been using it for years, i have never tried anything better

the darker shades can be a bit orange though so the paler one is better, if you are tanned / fake tanned you will still see your tanned colour through it iyswim

cerealqueen · 09/07/2013 22:09

Latex gloves are good for applying it, and for fake tan too.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 09/07/2013 22:17

I have the St Tropez wash-off one. Not great, I put some on yesterday...got sweaty sitting in the car and it got horribly streaky. Sally H is better staying power.

LemonBreeland · 10/07/2013 10:23

Thanks itsinthebag. I will get one but was looking for a possible alternative in the short term.

I have had it a couple of years and never read the instructions properly. Blush

Might try and steal some latex gloves from Dhs shop.
