For dd's first holy communion, I dont do frills, or lacey stuff and we thought this one was nice.

I am sending cheque today so all your opinions gratefully received

Very nice mosschops, simple yet pretty

Fimbo · 05/06/2006 13:32

It's lovely Mosschops. It's very pretty - my dd (nearly 8) would love to wear something like that.

nailpolish · 05/06/2006 13:33

mosschops that is gorgeous

you have nice taste

mosschops30 · 05/06/2006 13:44

ah thanks, glad everyone approves, dont want all the family tutting at my choice of dress.

You dont think it's too bridesmaid-y then? Her veil has a cross on it if thats any compensation

OP posts:
nailpolish · 05/06/2006 13:45

nope not bridesmaidy at all

plummymummy · 05/06/2006 21:27

I always think communion dresses look bridish/bridesmaidish so not best person to give advice. It's very sophisticated though. Looks like a designer mini brides dress rather than a net curtain ensemble.

mrsdarcy · 05/06/2006 21:44

At our church girls are asked not to wear sleeveless dresses - maybe check that's not the case at yours?

blueteddy · 05/06/2006 21:47

Very pretty.

hulababy · 05/06/2006 21:48

The dress is beautiful.

Gingerbear · 05/06/2006 21:56

I was just about to say the same as mrsdarcy - your DD might need a bolero type short sleeved jacket to cover up bare arms.
It is a lovely dress though.

Lovely on anyone over 12.
Not sure about the bare top bit though.
Deffo needs a little jacket of some sort.

mosschops30 · 06/06/2006 09:39

oh your worrying me now. All the dresses I saw were sleeveless apart from the frumpy, lacey frilly ones which i couldnt buy.

They are ok with sleeveless, as my friends dd took hers in Yr 3 and said they all had sleeveless dresses (because I did wonder too)

Its lovely.

MrsBadger · 06/06/2006 10:09

very sophisticated!

not v experienced in first communion stuff myself so had assumed \link{http://www.bhs.co.uk/wedding/bhs_images/white/X012-P7-05.jpg\this} kind of thing was the norm...

LipstickMum · 06/06/2006 10:10

Oh, it's gorgeous.

leander · 06/06/2006 10:12

I think it is gorgous not over the top very simple.Only you will know whether your daughter can carry a sleeveless dress off and not look too old(IYKWIM)
I think she will look fantastic

twinsetandpearls · 06/06/2006 10:32

I was at my neices holy communion and qute a few had sleeveless dresses but they did tend to cover up a bit with a bolero jacket or a little cardigan.

mosschops30 · 06/06/2006 11:43

hopefully she will be ok with that sheer wrap over the top. She is not a slutty 10 year old (like you see some of them) so I think she will just look very pretty, she has a little veil with a cross on and flat white shoes and white socks

Beauregard · 06/06/2006 11:45

simply gorgeous

threelittlebabies · 06/06/2006 11:47

very lovely!

twinsetandpearls · 06/06/2006 12:19

A sheer wrap would probably look lovely.
