If you hand wash your bras, what's your 'routine' ?

I'm sure it'll prolong their life, but what do you do? Each one separately? A few at a time? Don't you run out?!

I generally fling everything in the washing machine and don't hand wash anything else ever, so am looking for practical advice
Thank you :)

I chuck all of them in the sink with some gentle washing powder or liquid and warm but not hot water, let them soak for half an hour then gently scrub the area where my armpit would be. I then wring them out gently, i don't twist, rather just run my hands down the length of material to get rid of the excess water and drip dry them, either out on the line if it's sunny or on racks on the radiator

I'm desperately trying to convince myself it IS worth the effort involved...

Warm water in the sink and leave them for about 20 mins, then give them a bit of a rub along the wires and armpit bit then 'blot dry' with a towel and hang to dry.

I wash it in the sink each night with shampoo (seems to work) and hang it out over the aga to dry. I spend a bloody FORTUNE on decent bras and I am not going to risk them in the washing machine.

Due to laziness lack of time I wash mine in the machine inside a laundry net bag thingy. They seem to survive just as well as when I hand washed them.

I wash them in the machine. Always in lingerie bag (the net ones).

When I hand washed them, I'd wash them before running out of clean ones. So sometimes I'd wash them separately, other times I'd have several that I'd wash together (and rinse separately to ensure there was no soap left).

I'm too worried about wires coming out and getting lost to use laundry bags.

Allthingspretty · 08/07/2013 15:51

I stick them in the bath in warm water and powder and leave for a short while. I rub around the arm.pit area and then try and get asuch water out and then.line dry. It is.worth it.

Handwash mine like onelittlelady do maybe 3 at a time. One snippet of advice I was given at Rigby and Pellar - don't use fabric softener when washing them - it does something to the bra to make it not last so well (sorry I don't know what happens but I know they say don't use fabric softener)

i use a net bag in the washing machine
