I have spent my entire life wearing the wrong colours

Screaming fuchsia is me apparently

Who knew? It has been revelatory.

How have you found this out?

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 21:56

Went to have colours done with dd.

I actually buy in to all this completely now. I now understand why the olives and yellows never worked for me. Bit late in the day for me, but still better late than never!

Really funny! Think the fuscia is optional though Wink. Did you got to a House of Colour or Colour Me Beautiful person??

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 22:00

Went to house of colour person. Was literally amazing. I flatter myself by thinking that I am a serious minded person and all this is not very serious. But it works. I learned loads.

So which season? Winter?

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 22:18

I am a winter,

I so am, by the way, the consultant was bang on

It's just that I've spent the previous 46 years of my life dressing as an autumn ....

BeginnerSAHM · 06/07/2013 22:24

Ah well! Now you know!!

Nice 'jewel' colours though, right? Greens and blues etc? Yup, I'm v embarrassed to tell anybody in real life I've had it done (more than once...) as it seems very shallow and silly! But, I found it useful - in the end Wink.

Zynnia · 06/07/2013 22:26

I have always thought humbug to this colours stuff, but I walked past my reflection in tk maxx the other day and saw this colourless woman wanly staring back. My hair skin and eyes all the same shade of tea bag.

What colour would giz me up then Grin any idea OP

Zynnia · 06/07/2013 22:28

I know it wouldn't be as good as a consultation with a human but are there any on line quizzes? i'd settle for that

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 22:32

Honestly mate, just go get it done. Fwiw, I think only winters can safely wear black. Luckily dd and I who both mainly wear black, are both winters. But we need to cut it down. I really had no clue that I could wear pink and blue, and had been avoiding those colours all my life.

OP posts:
Zynnia · 06/07/2013 22:41

I might do. The online quizzes aren't going to tell me the right answer because there is no box to tick for mouse brown hair and eyes that are light but brownish not blue. it was dark eyes or blue eyes. um neither.

Zynnia · 06/07/2013 22:43

One colour (if I could call it that) that I have to avoid is white. Unfortunately. I just look like I need a blood transfusion when I wear white. Look ok in black and olive green and burgundy. Any striking bold colour looks ridiculous on me. Except lime green oddly.

QueenCadbury · 06/07/2013 22:54

Hey wuldric welcome to being a winter. I had mine done in April and although I was initially a bit scared of the colours I love them now.

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 22:55

You sound as though you might be an autumn. The issue with an online quiz is that you don't get to see the colour against the skin. I did one yolks ago that said I was an autumn. I am not.

OP posts:
Zynnia · 06/07/2013 22:55

Have you found it hard to find clothes in your new colours? and is it hard to resist the old colours?

YoungBritishPissArtist · 06/07/2013 22:55

Can someone link to an online quiz? Thank you.

I'm intrigued!

mumofapirate · 06/07/2013 22:58

I'd love this. Is it expensive op?

nenevomito · 06/07/2013 22:58

I had my colours done at a party when I was going through my goth phase. My uni housemates had begged me to join in.

It was a blessed relief to that black, silver, purple and zombie green were actually my colours.

Wuldric · 06/07/2013 23:01

It cost£200 for me and dd. but she spent 4 hours with us and it has been transformational.

Another winter here. I remember my feelings about wearing fushcia - I still don't wear much of it but it is a fab colour for lipsticks, scarves and accessories. Was chuffed to be allowed to wear my beloved black though.

Mum - its £99 according to the HoC website for a consultation.

ELR · 07/07/2013 08:02

zyn sounds like you are an autumn

Wuldric · 07/07/2013 08:05

There is potentially some additional cost in terms of chucking out all the clothes in the wrong colours and buying new stuff!

OP posts:
RayofSun · 07/07/2013 08:11

I had mine done twice (over 6 years) as I was sure I would be an autumn but was told I was a winter. And this was confirmed again. Now I find shopping so easy as you an go straight to the racks that you know will suit you. I also have shops which i can pretty much completely avoid as i know they do few clothes in my colour. It's a little annoying when you see something you like and the colour isn't quite right but I think it really works. I always get complimented when I wear fushia!!!

Zynnia · 07/07/2013 09:27

Thanks ELR

Hopefully · 07/07/2013 09:32

Online quizzes v unreliable - I always come out as a winter, and I am very definitely an autumn.

Congrats on your new diagnosis! I love it when I get sceptics as clients (my own mother had to be virtually forced into the chair) as it is extra satisfying seeing them see it, iykwim.
