Palazzo pants.. yay or nay?

Found myself perusing the interwebs, looking at palazzo pants. I have a 'thing' for high-waisted vintage garb: anywhere from the 30s through to the 50s, really. I live in my Freddies of Pinewood repro jeans, and have been yearning for an easy-to-wear alternative.

Palazzos seem to look comfortable and cool, whilst having some versatility still.

Problem? Not sure if they will suit me. I am 5' 4", size 8-10. No real waist to speak of- probably a 'rectangle' shape. Small boobs, a bit muscular.

Would I look as if I was being devoured by a pair of curtains?

Thanks in advance!

I don't see why you couldn't wear them tbh. I think you'll only really know by going and trying some on if you can. I personally think they look better on a slightly boyish figure IYSWIM though I'm sure many would disagree with me.

Thank you, OneLittleLady! You're right, of course. It's just that I don't often get time to go to the shops, and when I do, I never seem to be able to find what I fancy looking at as my tastes are quite out of sync with the High Street!

I guess I'm just thinking my height could be an issue. In my head, I see 1930s moviestar elegance... but just wonder if the effect might be a bit more dumpy...

Urgh. Link fail- was trying to link to the '1930s Model in her Palazzo Pant Pose' photo.

I think you can get around the height issue with heels/wedges which I think would look fab with the wide leg of the pants. I think I'd personally go for a wedge or block heel with them though. I definitely couldn't wear them myself as I'm four inches shorter than you and shrinking as I get older!

I also think you'd have to wear them with something fairly fitted on top so you don't drown in fabric. The billowy effect of the wide legs would be more than enough without you swamping your upper body in fabric.

Fantastic- thank you so much, that's helped enormously. I have a couple of pairs of shoes that would do the job. Ebay here I come! Grin
