Green skirt - no idea what to wear with it!

So since getting my legs sorted (no more evil varicose veins at the age of 33 - the small scars I can live with Smile) I've been on the lookout for a 'statement' type skirt to wear in the summer. I found this green Boden skirt in a charity shop yesterday for £5 - bargain! (I'm hoping there's a file attached - haven't tried attaching a file on Mumsnet before!)

But! I have no idea what to wear it with! Can't do another pattern I'm guessing? Plain colour? But not green, too matchy matchy. Tight, loose? Tucked in, hanging out?

I usually live in jeans and plain or not too crazily patterned tops, so I'm at a bit of a loss at what to wear with this skirt now I've bought it!

I was people watching today in town and (typically) no-one was wearing a brightly patterned skirt. Looking forward to your ideas! Grin

What's the background colour? can't work out if it's white, cream or oatmeal-ish.

ameliameerkat · 05/07/2013 21:26

White, I would say.

I would probably wear a plain, fitted, short sleeve tee in any of these colours:

red
Navy
Canary Yellow
Bright Orange
Hot pink
Purple

I'd go with something like this, I think.

ameliameerkat · 05/07/2013 21:41

I'm liking the pink and orange ideas Smile. I'm worried the red might be a bit much being as they're opposites on the colour wheel!

Grey or white.
Something plain ish because skirt is loud ish.

Tan sandals.

Ooh! I like that Mango top MrsLettuce, I'll keep an eye out for something like that :)

White top with orange necklace and tan sandals :)

I'd wear it with a plain fitted black, or navy, or grey, or red, or white t shirt. With white superga trainers or plain black ballet shoes or silver flat sandals/flip flops and a denim jacket.

browneyedpixie · 06/07/2013 07:50

oooh I like!!! Grin
I would wear a stripe breton top
a red top
a black top
a white top
oooh a pink one!
yellow

possibilities are endless!

ameliameerkat · 06/07/2013 08:08

Now stripe Breton I like the sound of too. Shoes would probably be Converse style trainers, or tan ballet pumps, or little strappy flat sandal things. Have to find an occasion to wear it now! Maybe today..... Grin seeing as apparently this is the start of a 'heatwave' in Scotland!

yes converse good. a wooden wedge hasbeens style would be nice too

Skinheadmermaid · 06/07/2013 11:48

I would wear it with a sleeveless denim shirt tucked in or a black/navy/fushia cami type vest. And ballet flats in the same colour as the vest or low top plimsoles/trainers.
It really depends on your colouring and figure as well. Coral nail varnish would make a nice contrast as would very pale or very tan skin.
And gold or bronze jewellery, not silver.
