how to keep hair straight over night

DD14 straightens hair before bed, and often wakes up with a kink in her hair where she's tied a ponytail. However, she tosses and turns a lot in her sleep, and so can't keep it out. She's asking for suggestions!

Not tried it, but how about using a wide ribbon to tie the ponytail instead of the elastic band - if wide enough, it might work?

Like this, but just a low, loose ponytail instead: content5.videojug.com/4b/4b176282-3e6c-1b4f-261f-ff0008cf819a/how-to-do-a-wet-look-ponytail.WidePlayer.jpg?v2

If she straightens her hair and then ties a ponytail, the hair is still warm and pliable so will get the kink. Also, she probably sweats in her sleep which again will make her hair wavy. She needs to always use a straightening product with her irons, an anti-humidity spray and then wrap her head with a silk scarf. But I would just get up a little earlier and straighten it in the morning to be honest.
