Sizing of leather biker jackets in general

I'm not talking serious biking, but fashion wear.

Just tried on an 8 and 10 in a Whistles leather biker and they feel tiny- can just fasten the 10 but doubt I could get a woolly under in cold weather.

I am shocked because my coats and jackets are a 10 or even an 8, and I am a 32D bust.

Never worn a 12 in my life in anything but looks like I need to size up.

Is this usual? I seem to remember trying on some Ted Baker bikers a few years back and was surprised that I had to try on their size 3 to get a comfy fit.

OR are they supposed to be a tight fit?

I do think they are designed to be a snug fit so yes, I had to size up in mine......

That's useful, thanks.

Me too - I also want to be able to wear a jumper under it in the Autumn

Amazinggg · 04/07/2013 17:32

I think they are designed to be worn v fitted - looks much more modern, and more flattering IMO than 80s style oversized Grin but yes it makes them hard to do up. I think if you're trying them on, ignore the label and try over a tee and also with a thick jumper to test.

I find them big . They aren't designed to be done up just sort of hang and not really meant to wear big jumpers under so I guess that's why.

It's usual, yes.

I'm on the lookout for a cheap one to wear to a fancy dress do ( going as. Christina aqueduct). Found some lovely ones in tkmaxx- a gorgeous guarani stock on in sludgy grey has definitely got my name on it....

I bought a Jigsaw biker in 12 which is too big especially as I have lost weight. Too late to take it back - any ideas what to do? Pissed off about it

eBay it and buy one that fits you . They go well on eBay .

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/07/2013 23:06

I'd buy a snuggish one and not even try to do it up.

Thanks I agree in theory. I've ordered a 12 to try on at home- the 10 is very tight under the arms etc as well. Maybe it's just the cut of this one and I need to wait to try more styles on.

I was hoping to wear it in the colder weather - city shopping, lunches, going out etc- over dresses and jeans but if it's not meant to be done up ( can see your point there) then maybe I'd not get much wear out of it anyway. It's £££ and an investment piece, so can't risk getting it wrong.
