I have bought a dress like this but in black with nude under layer and with an old gold look of glitter-stuff around the waist.

It looks kind of Grecian-style. I like it. It seems to be fine for the black tie ball I'm going to on Saturday night.

took me ages to find www.houseoffraser.co.uk/JS+Collections+Jersey+jewel+waist+keyhole+dress/180433797,default,pd.html

It's ever so slightly too short. I feel it should skim the floor. It doesn't. It sits just on my ankle but I cannot face going out to hunt for another dress. I'm 6ft tall, you see.

Now, I need shoes. I am a size 9. Hmm I have black high heels but I feel that high heels aren't really appropriate.

Should I go with flat Grecian style sandals (hard to find dressy ones) or a mid heel shoe? I don't want to be a giantess in high heels.

Any ideas please?

I think that in a Maxi dress at 6ft tall you can definitely get away with flat shoes!
It's hard to advise about the shoes with a picture of the actual dress - but am off for a look

hmmm just read your post again and see that it's for a black tie ball so perhaps a mid heel might be more appropriate especially if the dress doesn't skim the floor
pesky maxi dresses - I'm only 5ft9 but struggle to get maxi dresses long enough for my liking.

I am the same. 6 foot and large feet so I try to buy the shoes first as with my average shape easier to find a dress to match shoes :-)

I like those Karbea, but are they dressy enough for black tie?

Yes I don't see why not, I think they'll look lovely actually - wouldn't have suggested them otherwise ;)
