Please help me dress up a maxi dress

We have an event coming up where formal dress has been suggested - it's not strict....just a theme. I don't really want to spend lots on a dress I will never wear again so I was hoping I could do something with a dress I already have. This one.

I need shoes - flats would be my normal thing - I'm 5ft 9" but I'm thinking I might need to add a heel to dress it up, a better quality belt and a clutch.

Firstly can i get away with this dress and good acessories? Any suggestions on the additions? Budget is fairly generous.

Yes, you could. Maybe a gold belt or something or a "statement" necklace? I love the dress and think it will look really classy with some nice accessories.

What about a gold belt, a big cuff and an oversized clutch bag?

I love the dress, the Kurt Geiger shoes are perfect.

I would go either for gold or silver for accesories but you could make most colours work.

One other thing if it is an evening event (or you want to me even more formal) then a pashimina or coverup scarf (which I can´t remember the name for) can also be added.
