Shrinking jeans by putting them in a hot wash?

Not really sure where to post this, but has anyone had any success shrinking jeans this way? Or indeed any other way?!

I've just bought a pair of lovely soft Gap maternity jeans, but they are a teensy bit loose, and I can tell they're going to get looser with a bit of wearing, the next size down would (naturally Hmm) be too small.

T'interweb tells me to wash them on a hot wash and then out them in the tumble dryer, but what constitutes a hot wash, and would this be likely to affect the bump band, which is a sort of slightly ribbed, stretchy soft nylon?

I've just lost 2st and have some favourite jeans that I loved. I have put similar colours together, put in on a 90 degree wash and tumble dried. Some have come out fine but think the ones with more elastic haven't done as well. The inside have loose threads and seem to have pulled a bit.

I thought they would be ok until I'D worn them a bit and go baggy again but seem to have shrunk some of them properly.

Worth a try if you aren't going to wear again as they are.
