Can I wear this to a wedding?

This dress , with nude accessories (shoes, clutch, pashmina and fascinator).

The wedding is in Poland, in a church (so I'm guessing Catholic & quite traditional), followed by a reception at an old palace.

Is it ever ok to wear black to a wedding?!

It's very nice indeed and the accessorized as described it'd be lovey, but not really appropriate for the wedding, no. It'd be OK at some less traditional weddings with bright accessories though.

IME grooming is very important in Poland.

Lovely. Someone will be along to tell you it is never ok to wear black to a wedding but wear what you are comfortable and don't bother about what other people may think etc. people talk about wedding etiquette bit who wrote that! No one. Be comfy!

My cousin wore a black knee length dress to a wedding with cream & nude accessories/bag/shoes and looked amazing. Didn't look odd and no one batted an eyelid

Looks fine to me. I wore black to my brothers wedding. It was in a hotel. About 50% of the women wore black too.

No, sorry, not in a very traditional setting (it's lovely though)

MrsLettuce · 27/06/2013 20:57

yy, it's a gorgeous outfit, no question. But, fab as it is, it really isn't right for the traditional setting.

survival guide - Polish weddings though no comment about clothes, still useful imo.

google images of Polish weddings - I spied quite a few black dresses.

I think your choice is lovely and you are going to be a foreigner at the wedding, wear what you feel good in, but a bit of colour would be good too, for contrast.

WhenIGrowUpIWantToBeAPenguin · 27/06/2013 22:09

Tapsel - thank you so much for those links - it sounds like it's going to be good fun! The photos haveIintroduced a new dilemma however - I can't see anyone wearing hats/fascinators! Confused

It's an odd situation - bridge and groom live in Canada, both have Polish parents. I don't know how much they will combine Canadian and Polish traditions! I do know there is a poprawiny the next day so need to find an outfit for that too...

Third one down is my second choice.

That's just the ticket, I'd say! Is out of stock though, unfortunately.

MrsLettuce · 27/06/2013 22:29

There's ans 8 & 10 in the pink and all sizes in the blue version in stock at HoF.

MrsLettuce · 27/06/2013 22:46

this is lovey (although I prefer the fawn).
On the off chance you're a 10, this is stunning.
