Is a non matching bikini top and bottom alright?

Or must they always be matching?

I'm not thinking clashing patterns, more a plain top or bottom with a patterned contrasting other half.

Figleaves have a sale on, but it's hard to get matching halves.

I'd say it's actually more fashionable at the moment to have mismatched top and bottoms. A lot of mags have patterned tops with plain bottoms.

Ah good, THANK YOU!Smile

I can't say I'm feeling overly confident at the prospect of a bikini. Wrong side of 45 and larger than I'm happy with atm, but I'm determinied to enjoy my hols. Just don't want to commit a bikini faux pas that'll draw attention to myselfBlush

Yep of course. I hate wearing bikini pants for long when it's hot. So I buy the matching pants and another pair (often the plain in the main or background colour of the print) so I can swap at lunch ish without having to take loads of extra (massive- big boobs) tops.

I have bought lots from Asda of all places. Tops are £8 and bottoms £4. Am also heavier than I'd like to be so didn't want to spend a fortune. The tops are cup sized up to h I think too so I could get e/f sizes easily. They have some very flattering stuff in.

Oh thanks I'll have a look.

Last time I wore a bikini on holiday the subsequent photos were awful.

I accept me being a bit heavier than I'd like might have been part of the problem, but I'd bought cheapy bikinis that were not cup sized and looked dreadful on me and had no support. This time I'm looking for something that fits me properly at least.

My dd needs to have proper bikini tops as she is a 32E. They are very expensive so she just gets a patterned bikini top and then a cheap pair of plain, usually black, bottoms to go with them to save a few ££s. No point spending £25 on bottoms when the £5 ones are just as good!

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 27/06/2013 11:16

Actually that's a brilliant point Dexter. It's the top half that needs to be right for me too. The bottom half doesn't need to be so £. Thanks for the tipSmile

I might even be able to use a couple of bottoms that I already have thinking about it.

Apparently on the Rio de Janeiro beaches it is all the rage to wear a mis-matched bikini top and bottom (they usually were roughly similar colour palates though). We witnessed this ourselves.
