How do I stop my clinique quickliner smudging on eyelids?

I have a lovely greeny quickliner from clinique which looks really nice when I first put it on my top lash line. Soon after though it seems to smudge and ends up in the crease of my eyelid.
How can I stop this happening or is there a better liner that won't do this? Thanks

Thanks travelincolour, my eyelids are definitely shiny a few hours later and by then the liner has gone everywhere! Do i just need to put powder on lids before applying liner?
I think I might be better off finding a non smudgy liner as although I love the look when I first apply it, it doesn't stay like that.

I use a Laura Mercier product on my eyelids before I put eyeliner/eye shadow on. It's a cream in a natural colour applied with an applicator, it works like a primer on the eye area. I have quite fair skin & the colour I use is called wheat.
