I'm entirely the wrong shape to wear them myself, but this is driving me crazy! I'm in danger of actually making a pair, just to find out ... Why does the crotch in super-cool skinny pants seem to form a pouch across the front?
Despite fervent searching, I can't find an up-to-date pattern for skinnies (doubtless because they're really hard to get right.) When I was skinny enough to make them for myself, the crotch didn't do this. It was close fit, and you had to use a fabric with some give or face a battle to the death between your fanjo and the inner seam!
Here's a picture, but you probably know what I mean.
I was wondering if the front was cut on a straight diagonal, rather than the usual fitted curve. That would afford the extra fabric, but I can't envisage how it would work in practice.
So ... not a majorly urgent problem; I just hope some MN style guru knows the answer :)
