They need to:

Not fade
Not sag
Hold me in! :)
Have enough room to fit my sizeable arse without the waist being too big so that they fall down

Don't mind paying some cash for good ones, share your favourites!!

Look for a high % of spandex/lycra. Many brands (even £££ ones) will only have 5% lycra. American Apparel's leggings are good but only contain 5%. I do like them though.

I have bought lycra dance leggings before from dance clothing suppliers. these Pineapple ones have 6%.

these Petit Bateau leggings contain 10% lycra and I have worn these to Yoga in the past (couple of years ago). They didn't bag, go thin or shiny. Otherwise try Sweaty Betty exercise clothing as they'll have plenty of black ones. i think dance wear is the way to go if you don't want to do the 'buy new ones every two months' route like many of us do!

These M&S ones are great and only £7.50 - they usually have them in more colours. I order online for free delivery to store, you can never find them otherwise.
