Help please - dress for my dad's 80th birthday celebration

Small family get-together end of July in a hot place (we hope, it is currently 34 C).
Informal, there will be small children etc.
I need a dress I can wear scaffolding a bra underneath but would like something strapless.

Is this one nice or not?

I have norks and arse with a semblance of a waist, size 14 (or 16 in that dress if I interpret what the seller is saying correctly...).

I am grateful for any ideas. Budget no more than 50pounds or thereabouts.

TIA

I am looking for a dress for me, not my dad btw Grin just in case that was not clear

Do you mean sleeveless rather than strapless?

I quite like the one you linked to - it could suit an hourglass type shape and look good with a tan and probably someone with darker colouring... I would say it's nothing mega special but for a day dress in hot weather it seems practical too.

For a casual summer dress I like the Cadiz on the boden website - only £31.50 too. m.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Above-Knee-Dresses/WH511/Womens-Cadiz-Dress.html

Oh yes, bother, sleeve less, definitely NOT strapless Blush.

Yes, I've seen the Cadiz too... hmm.

I think I liked the colours of the one I linked too, however I am a bit put off by it being described as a bit small.
And I am a 34G so need to consider that.

I tend to look a bit pregnant in Empire line dressing, I really do not find them flattering.
But jersey is appealing from a comfort point of view Grin

I don't know if you have tried Boden before, but I find them unflattering of the larger bust.

How about this:

I am reviving this thread - I was away for a few days; just as I had posed this crucial question too Grin.

frenchfancy, you are so right - a lot of their stuff looks unnecessarily mumsy on me, but I so often tend to be seduced by their colours, natural fibres and quality.
Thanks for the link - I will do a bit more research tonight.

Any other suggestions much appreciated Smile
