Summer/holiday clothes for short flabby person

I am completely clueless when it comes to summer clothes. I tend to wear jeans year round, white linen trousers on hot days and hideously unflattering shorts on holiday.

I'm a size 12-14, 5ft3 hourglass, but with a big flabby belly. From the front I look like an hourglass but from the side my belly sticks out quite a lot and is the thing I most want to disguise. Also, got big thighs. (Wow - I sound attractive don't I)

Can anyone point me in the direction of some nice casual looks for summer? I'd like to wear dresses but don't know what would suit me. I also think there must be some elusive shorts length that will suit me but I've never found it.

Fat face have nice chino shorts that are a good length, I think they can be rolled up or down to suit you and have a look on Great Plains sale website, they have some flattering summer dresses. 12 - 14 doesn't sound particularly big btw

Also I have had a few lovely bits from George at Asda recently as well.

I'm a similar shape ( a size smaller but 2" shorter) - I've got a few summer dresses I like, generally petite ranges (so proportions right) - in at the waist and out over hips, or slightly high-waisted. Or skirts - mid-calf, full skirted but wear with fitted T/vest not baggy top.

Shorts are difficult - must be cut wide enough in the leg to accommodate thunder thighs (difficult to find big enough leg without baggy waist - drawcord styles may work) and must be right length, to cover the widest part of thigh but not too long - I've just measured a couple of pairs that work, inside leg between 4 - 5.5 cm. (And not low-rise, ugh)

I've not bought any new ones this year, last year someone recommended some Great Plains shorts.

I think I have to face my fear of dresses, but don't know what would suit me. Everything seems to emphasise my belly.

tickled, my stomach is my worst feature, almost Wildfivebellies tbh

this style is really flattering, I bought two in the sale. The twist just below the bust kind of skims over the belly but doesn't make me look pregnant either. If the link doesn't work google Great Plains dandelion dress. Hth
