I keep raking out mini handfuls with my combs after my showers - it's gross & quite alarming!! Shock

I didn't have thick hair to begin with so i'm wondering if there any vitamin supplements I can take to help or do I have to just ride this out??

Same thing happened to me. First pregnancy I shed a fair bit, but second time around it came out in handfuls for months. Got really down and paranoid about it as was noticeably thin around the front. Hairdresser recommended biotin, so got some industrial strength 10,000mcg stuff off Amazon. Seems to have some the trick. Hair is growing back finally and nails are stronger too.

What?! Jeez, after pregnancy mine has just got thicker, and thicker and thicker. I can't manage it unless it is seriously highly layered now. Loads falls out as well but it seems to only get thicker Angry Having said that I had alopecia when I was younger so I should be grateful.

My hair fell out so badly after having ds the bath stopped draining, after puting the sink unblocker stuff that dissolves hair and boiling water down we admitted defeat and called the landlord thinking it must be something else.
He pulled out a tight matted sausage of my hair which resembled a rat. Oh the shame.

Magnesium
Iron

Yup happens after every baby with me around the 3 months post natal mark, I had low b12 and had put it down to that but Had b12 injections now and yesterday my hair started coming out in clumps in the shower :-(
Think crappy hair for me again

I will definitely look into the biotin I think!

My HV said thyroid issues can also be a cause & right enough mine can be a bit wonky. I've not had it checked since mid pregnancy so probably worth me checking that out too.

I WISH my hair had got thicker & thicker afterwards glamstretchmarks!

Oh yes, mine is falling out like mad second time round. Poor DS is always covered in it [vom].

u32ng · 17/06/2013 19:57

Yes my DS keeps inadvertently grabbing handfuls (he's at the grabby stage) which isn't great as the first place that anything goes once it's in his hand is his mouth - yuk!

I took advantage of Boots' 3 for 2 last night & bought that Pregnacare 'new mum' supplement . It's got biotin etc in it so we'll see if it makes any difference after a few months!!

mine is coming out in handfuls too, has been going on for about 4 months now :( I will have to investigate biotin supplements I think. so sick of it.

Arseface · 17/06/2013 20:11

Grim isn't it. Just as the gloss and novelty of newborns starts to wear off and you feel as though you're expected to look a bit more together your hair starts to look crap. I'm wearing mine scrunched and curly to hide the thinness and stop it getting all over the babies!

Worst of all, When it finally starts to grow back you get loads of shorter hairs coming through that won't sit flat and make you look a fuzzy mess.

I know it's a bit shallow and I'm lucky to have the babies but it is a bit depressing.

ChutesTooNarrow · 17/06/2013 20:24

The growing back phase for me last time after i had my ds made me look like I had a hair halo. I'm currently losing it by the handful thanks to five month old dd. I am almighty sick of my hair being everywhere, constantly having to retrieve it from dd mouth, nappy, DS screeching about hair spiders every five minutes. I have had a fringe chopped in, in an attempt to alleviate the halo look. I must investigate supplements.

u32ng · 18/06/2013 06:56

Ugh yes I too am fed up of retrieving my hairs from everywhere: DS's hands, his nappy, his Moses basket, down the front & back of my top (which is MULTIPLE times a day & really itchy!)...don't even get me started on what the shower looks like after I've been in!

My order's been despatched by Boots last night - hurry up & get here!!
