Ok, I know its been done to death but I NEED to know if La Roche Posay is worth it?

My skin is awful; I feel old, I keep getting cystic/persistent spots that scar but I'm all dry and flaky too with loads of blackheads on my nose and chin (gosh, I'm a keeper ). So...I keep hearing good things about LRP and I'm wondering what you guys would recommend from the range?

I use the effaclar range but that's for oily/combination skin so don't go for that one.
LRP is brilliant though - well worth giving it a try

Gosh, my skin sounds identical to yours. It's so demoralising isn't it. My deems flannel helps to keep my skin in reasonable order. Sorry I can't enlighten about LRP.

The physiological cleanser is suitable for all slin types. I use a microfibre cloth to wipe it off which helps to gently exfoliate

Hi- my skin seems similar with random cystic spots that scar- I had been using benzoyl peroxide and it trashed my face leaving it dry, itchy and still spotty.
I just got desperate and read and read on here and googled products people recommended.
Bit the bullet and bought Dr nick Lowe purifying cleanser, LRP effaclar duo and effaclar H as a moisturiser.

I use the nick low and duo twice a day, only moisturise during the day.I started this regime 9 days ago... For the first time I am spot free! I hope my scars will fade with time. Lrp works for my skin .

Another vote for the physiological cleanser. I've been using it for two years now. I started using it when my skin went crazy after having DD and it's great.

I have fairly good experiences with the Effaclar range - the only product from that range I'm not so keen on is the Effaclar A.I. I have the Mat and Duo creams as well, and they work better for me.
Also, I absolutely love the Cicaplast range.

Avene might also be an option for you - it's very similar to LRP, but I've heard from others that if LRP isn't good for them, then Avene might be better - and the other way round.
I prefer Avene for body creams and LRP for face creams.

My skin is dehydrated and gets oily very quickly, and I have until recently had loads of spots. I have loads of sebaceous filaments (not to be confused with blackheads) - they seem to look worse if I'm not using my clarisonic every day. I am currently using the Clinique anti-blemish solutions 3-step range and only Effaclar Duo if I have a spot. I feel a bit like the Effaclar Mat is too rich for my skin now, but during autumn and winter, it was great.

How do you like to wash? I like water so use Avene gentle rinse-off cleanser. And then LRP Cicaplast as a daily moisturiser, which is a magic potion - rich and nourishing but zero greasiness, and antibacterial to boot. My HG moisturiser.

boots had lrp and avene etc on three for twi mix and match this week.

If you're near a decent sized store they should be able to give you some samples. I've tried LRP and Avene. I have oily skin and get those lovely cysts on my chin that look like a Siamese twin. LRP wasn't bad when my skin wasn't too bad but I then got some samples of Avene and found it brilliant. Been using the soapless cleanser and Cleanance cream for the past 5 weeks and hardly had a spot. Period is due next week so this is when my face normally erupts !

Thanks everyone for the replies. It's such a minefield, I know the products aren't super expensive but I don't really want to waste money on products that won't work.

Amazinggg, yes, I do like to wash cleanse off so that sounds good.

Have you had a GP look at your skin? I had horrid/ persistent spots with really dry & flakey skin. Turned out to be acne rosecea- antibiotics mean I have clear skin again. I now just use sap free cleansing bar and a moisturiser.

I don t have specific problems but I rate LRP I got into it for the sun protection, I understand it offers the best protection for both cancer causing and ageing rays. I also use the moisturiser and it s v good. I ve downgraded from C larins to LRP with no regrets.

I have the most ludicrously sensitive skin, wear no make-up and rarely buy anything for my skin because I usually have to chuck it because I react to it.

But even I can use the Avene soapless cleanser and their cream for very irritable skin so I can't recommend them highly enough. They leave my skin feeling just pleasantly clean and soft.

I have very similar skin to you op, ive a bit of psoriasis too especially around the nose and forehead. I've started using an aqueous cream wash. Very cheap, bout two quid in boots. Im then using e 45 on the cery sore skin, then benefits total moisture cram and serum (I had free samples) .its really working, you can see the new skin where its repairing and healing. My new regime slong with water and a multivitamin!
