What colour accessories and what style jacket with a cobalt blue tulip dress?

I've got a dress I love for a wedding but am struggling to accessorise it - I need a jacket/shrug or whatever plus shoes, bag and something on my head. Black seems too harsh so I was wondering about charcoal/pewter or maybe a more silvery grey. What other colours would work?

Also, what style of jacket/shrug/whatever would go with a dress which is sleeveless and fitted on top with a wide waistband and a tulip shaped skirt? I'm thinking it needs a bolero style or something quite short - a longer jacket would hide the lovely shape it gives me (very flattering dress!) I think.

Yes to neat bolero jacket - definitely nothing longer than waist length or you'll mess up the line.

Colourwise, silver would be good and is also fashionable just now. Or you could go wild and try a bright orange for shoes and bag and stick to cobalt for head and jacket? sort of like this?

Wow I would never have thought of orange but that does look good. I guess it will depend what colour jacket I can find in that shape/style.

I would stay with bright colours to accessorise. Don't play down the beautiful blue.
I love orange or yellow or hot pink.

Good luck finding what you need.

I saw some gorgeous lipstick pink shoes which I LOVED but wondered if it would be a bit much!

A bright coral looks beautiful with cobalt.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 13/06/2013 09:10

Definitely coral, maybe a bit of white. Or go with analogous shades - turquoise and a light green maybe?

Can't find it on the website, but Hobbs had a display the other week which looked lovely. Cobalt blue dress with jacket in a rich cream/light beige. This top is in the same colourway.

CambridgeBlue · 13/06/2013 10:39

I like the sound of coral and I should think a cream jacket in the style I'm after wouldn't be too hard to find.

Cream jacket and perl accessories.

QueenCadbury · 13/06/2013 14:46

Fuschia/magenta, yellow, lagoon blue (a sort of a blue turquoise), white or burgundy?

Are you on Pinterest? You'd find lots of interesting colour combinations on there.

QueenCadbury · 13/06/2013 14:46

Or emerald green.

I have a cobalt blue dress which looks great with a coral cropped sort of tweed jacket. I was actually looking at one on a website earlier but I can't remember where it was now. something like this

sweetheart · 13/06/2013 15:29

or this

orthis

sweetheart · 13/06/2013 15:36

this could look good

I also find a little bit of leopard print works well with my cobalt blue dress (belt or shoes)

sweetheart · 13/06/2013 15:36

oh yes - or a burgundy / aubergine type colour would be good aswell as the coral

CambridgeBlue · 13/06/2013 16:57

sweetheart I love the idea of a biker jacket! I had also wondered about leopard print and I do like those Chanel style jackets so lots to think about there.

QueenCadbury yes I'm on Pinterest but for some reason hadn't thought to look there - doh! Will give it a go.
