Help re shoes to go with dress: it'll be a challenge....

.. not least because the dress was bought from TKMaxx and they don't have it online so can't link. Have spent ages trawling the net to see if I could find it or something similar but can't so can only describe it - sorry!!

It's a lighweight material, a kind of chiffon. It's a khaki green, with a darker pattern that's a bit like animal print (that sounds disgusting but it's lovely, honestly!) A bit flouncy, sleeveless and is knee length. I bought it thinking drinks/meals rather than party/posh.

I've tried it with various things I've got but nothing looks right (high wedges, high sandals = too high because it's quite short; I've tried with DD's Flossies/Toms but they are "too solid".

Have concluded it needs a sandal, but would like something with a small heel, whether wedge or kitten heel type thing. Not sure what colour - black too dark, cream might be too light. Definitely not white. Oh, and I've got very square feet so preferably fairly square at the toe rather than pointy.

Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What brand is the dress? I need a picture before I can help!

Stick a pic on your profile?

lilolilmanchester · 12/06/2013 19:54

I know, almost impossible without the dress. I think it was Betty Barclay. Am not at home so can't take pic, will do later, good thinking

what about a block heel sandal? not necessarily these,as prints may clash!

lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 09:41

Thanks finlaysmum, yes maybe something like that tho they may me a bit heavy. Didn't get chance to do pic last night, will try tonight

How about a bootie? Something like this: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0031U0L8M

bolshieoldcow · 13/06/2013 09:54

Oops, just saw you want small heel! These are wedges so look higher than they actually are, and are hush puppies so are the comfiest shoes around: www.schuh.co.uk/hush-puppies/womens-gold-hush-puppies-gloria/1758272120/

lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 13:02

Thanks bolshieoldcow (love the name). I really like the booties, feel they'd be too "heavy" for the dress, although maybe that's just me being too conservative. Also like the wedges. I have some similar ones in an off-white which didn't look right but the gold colour might look better. I'll try to remember to photograph the dress tonight and post on profile to see if that helps.

lilo your profile isn't open. Is it anything like this? I'd go with some strappy gold/silver/metallic of some description.

lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 23:13

I thought I'd opened it??? What else do I need to do?

OP posts:
lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 23:13

lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 23:26

Jackie, how kind of you to try... but no :-) same length, but less solid and much straighter and flouncier.... hopefully pic is showing now, if not, not sure what else I need to do.

Vibbe... does that mean you can see the pic?

Nude peeps might work, the first ones maybe but might be too heavy, the third maybe too flat but I do like them.

I can see me buying 20 pairs of lovely shoes/sandals/booties as a result of this thread and still have nothing to wear with the dress Grin

OP posts:
Vibbe · 13/06/2013 23:43

Yes, I can see the dress - it looks very nice :)

lilolilmanchester · 13/06/2013 23:51

Thank you. Is definitely one that loos better on than off... Looked a bit 'meh' on the hanger, and probably does on the photo but fits like a dream and very 'me'.
