doublewear eye liner pencil. Sooooo disappointed

Bought one yesterday in a lovely dark green. Put it on a 6pm. Wasn't hot or sweaty or anything but terrible panda eyes when I got back at 9pm. Rubbish. The Rimmel waterproof one was loads better. The doublewear one says it stays in place for 12 hours. Should I take it back?

I wasn't keen on it either. I've moved onto the Smashbox waterproof shadow liner. Very nice.

I wasn't keen on it either. I've moved onto the Smashbox waterproof shadow liner. Very nice. Not sure about EL's return policy but I'd give it a go!

I looked at reviews on Makeupalley Sorrel. It came out really well. Should have asked on here first! I've just started using EL doublewear light foundation which I love so I had high hopes. I got it in Boots, so I will have a bash at taking it back.

I love it. Have got through three. Are you greasy?

mignonette · 12/06/2013 16:32

I took the 'bombproof' Clarins eyeliner back and got a refund. If it is sold as waterproof and it is not then it breaches the Sale of Goods Act.

Seems cheaper eyeliners perform better.

seizetheafternoon · 12/06/2013 18:30

Eliot I am indeed greasy :) But this pencil is the worst I've come across for panda eyes. The colour was just gorgeous though. Bugger. Mignonette I'm going to take it back. It was too much money to just write it off.

Have you tried the 24/7 Urban Decay eye pencils? The colours are amazing and I find they last well although I do use a Clarins primer as well as I spend a lot of time outdoors.

EliotNess · 13/06/2013 15:40

i love the clinique little pot one - like the gel ones but better

themaltesecat · 13/06/2013 16:01

The best eyeliners are L'Oreal (the liquid ones, though I hear they've gone and made them clunkier and less easy to use) and Rimmel. For some reason, just like concealer (think Collection 2000), the cheap ones are by far the best.

Have just started using Estee Lauder so thanks for the headsup; will avoid the makeup and just use the (lovely) skin stuff.

valiumredhead · 13/06/2013 16:02

The Estee Lauder one? God, I love mine, it's the only thing that stays put, mine is green too. Take it back and complain, they will swap it for something else.

bigkidsdidit · 13/06/2013 16:04

My eyes weep a bit so I often have this problem. I have a gorgeous dark green kohl from Nars which stays on, it is wonderful!

seizetheafternoon · 13/06/2013 17:57

Thanks everyone. Loads of alternatives to work through! Don't avoid the make-up completely maltesecat, the foundation is the best I've tried in a long time. They are happy to give out testers too.

I love mine (in the dark green).

Rindercella · 13/06/2013 17:59

Agree re taking it back. EL are fab at returns.

EliotNess · 13/06/2013 19:37

I have the el graphite one.
Admittedly stays longer on my left eye than right
