Can anyone recommend a pair of good walking trousers?

I regulary walk/hike in Lake District or closer to home and at the moment wear a basic pear of M&S cargo trousers, but they are not very technical so do not dry quickly and are wearing out.

I am looking for a good quality pair of trousers that will work through the seasons.

Can anyone recommend a brand ?

I had a look online and there is just so much to chose from

I would go for Craghoppers Kiwi Stretch. Make sure you get stretch ones! They are (holy grail) actually slimming which is rare in walking trousers Grin.

I think there are a few different versions, I don't personally go for zip offs as I find the zip annoyingly bulky but the Kiwi's are by far the best trousers I've had over the years.

Prana do some nice trousers too but harder to track down.

Thanks! Just what I need.

Do you know how they come up size wise?

For example I am a size 12 trouser in next bit would be a 14 in river island...

I have something similar to these (bought a few years ago):

uk.thenorthface.com/tnf-uk-en/shop-by/category/trousers-pants/women-s-horizon-valley-convertible-pants-1.html

They are great - very hard wearing. They still look as good as the day I bought them. And the fit is pretty flattering for a practical garment. I'd definitely buy north face again.

DH swears by Craghoppers kiwis too.

I don't walk as much as him perfectly happy with my Regatta ones £15 iirc on the ebay Regatta outlet . I have the shorts too.

I think they are about average size size guide. There's a lot of stretch in them so they are quite forgiving! I'm quite a generous 14 and my size 14's still fit me. I don't find non-stretch trousers very comfortable probably because I have a huge behind there is always masses of fabric in the legs but too tight around the bum to scramble up things. Obviously it depends a lot on your shape and proportion what fits and flatters you!
