Clinique naturally glossy mascara- cheaper alternative?

I've been loyal to my Clinique mascara for years but am trying to keep costs down so was hoping someone could recommend a cheaper alternative. I'm lucky that my lashes are long so don't want a mascara which will make them look longer, just natural.

i've discovered an amazing trick recently - use any mascara but apply it with a metal lash comb! So I dip my metal comb in the mascara (paralell to the brush) and then sweep it through my lashes... it's SO good - it's more natural because you don't get any thick bits or clumps but, conversely, they look much more 'done' because they hold the curl from my curlers all day (there's much less mascara to drag them down) AND i can use my lash curlers on top if I want to because they don't seem to stick to so little mascara. I'm using up my diorshow brown mascara which was a clumpy nightmare with its own brush but is beautiful this way. I'm also using a MUA one from superdrug which looks equally good.

Thanks for the tip. Where do you get a metal lash comb from? I am really lazy with my make up & haven't used a lash comb for years & only ever had a plastic one.

I have a really really old ruby and millie but I just bought the real techniques one from amazon once I'd tried applying it this way :) It's much better - really good quality, and a good brush for eyebrows on the other side too!
