What actually is meant to happen after using salycylic acid?

I've used it three times now, but haven't noticed anything happening to my skin, nor any improvement? It does feel at the time I'm using it that something should happen (ie, it stings a bit), but no visible results? What happens to other people's skin after use?

Absolutely nothing. Skin felt a little bit smoother but no obvious difference.
Did you get it from Bravura? I am beginning to think that some mumsnetters work for Bravura... I also got the dermaflannel and that was useless too. Sent a few emails to them to discuss 'my skincare regimen', begged them to ring me, and they never replied.

I got it from an Ebay seller that was linked to on here, can't remember her or her shop's name. How many times have you tried it? Don't know whether to persist or move on to another product in my futile quest to look twenty years younger!

Over time it has completed sorted my congested black-heady skin out. Do you have blackheads? Because that's what it's beneficial for.

FarleyD · 07/06/2013 19:32

Yes a few, and some enlarged pores. When you say "over time", how long do you mean?

Are you doing weekly peels? I find using a product with it in daily, more beneficial. La Roche Posay Efflaclar stuff. Although I do find doing the odd peel really makes my skin seems extra clear and squeaky clean. I have very oily congested skin, so perhaps that's why I notice such a difference.

FarleyD · 07/06/2013 20:09

Yes, I've been doing it weekly. Perhaps I'll switch to daily then and see what happens. Glad your skin has improved.

I did 10 weekly peels, increasing the time I left it on each time. My skin is dry with a few wrinkles and very few pores. I saw a slight improvement on the blocked pores either side of my nose, but as I have very few and the improvement was barely noticeable, it was not worth the faff. No difference on wrinkles whatsoever. Skin felt super tight and dry, I could have just used an exfoliator and the result would be the same (minimal).

Do you mean aspirin? Why have to be from "Bravura" then, or Ebay? Grin

I think there is a stronger strength version, if you're using the less strong one maybe try the stronger one? I've never tried it so am watching with interest.
