Beauty journalists/bloggers to read

I have recently started reading Sali Hughes column in The Guardian and it has been a revelation to me. I look after my skin fairly well, but in a cleanse and moisturise way, and have found her column really helpful in terms of looking at what other products may suit me, what to ignore etc. I am also a very recent convert to make up, so am starting from novice levels on that. I'm already feeling a bit more confident just by reading her previous columns.

So I wondered if you had any other recommendations of good journalists or bloggers to read. I don't want PR type stuff about "this is the latest and greatest and you must spend £50". I want honesty and a good mix of prices (I can afford higher end brands if they are the best things but don't like to stray from the high street if there is no need). Also anything on make up techniques as I'm strictly a mascara, lippy and bit of eye shadow girl (still make myself look like Aunt Sally with blusher) so need some tips on what to do.

Ta :)

Caroline Hirons(beauty mouth) is great for serious skin care information. Would second Lisa Eldridge recommendation too.

Pixiwoo on YouTube good for makeup techniques etc.

British Beauty Blogger (possibly ex beauty pr) and Strawberry blonde beauty blog (good for seeing what works for real people) also good.

EXACTLY what Gladyoucame said!! Think Caroline Hirons is starting to experiment with YouTube too x

AModelRecommends is a great blog, with some high end products but high street things too. It's written by Ruth Crilly, a model with a great writing style that makes me laugh a lot.

Have started with Caroline
Hirons. I like her slightly school teacher tone :)

I like all of these mentioned, plus lipso facto (who is impossibly gorgeous and young, but gives excellent advice)

I love buynowbloglater. She used to be lollipop26 on YouTube but I think she became upset with the level of cyber bullying. It can be pretty bad for beauty vloggers. www.buynowbloglater.com/

blusherandblogging is Susie Amy's blog (Chardonnay on Footballers Wives!) blusherandblogging.com/ She updates regularly and has a YouTube channel too.

And I also love lisaeldridge.com/ and www.amodelrecommends.com/

I can't get into Pixiwoo, not sure why. I know they have a million videos up but they just don't seem that good to me Blush I like Sam Chapmans brush line though.

After all that I forgot to convert links Angry

Prefer Wayne Goss gossmakeupartist, to Pixiwoo.

Used to like Pixiwoo but I'm fickle and have gone over to Wayne.

Temptalia - the pics are great and the reviews are good. I like that she's not doing sponsored reviews, so her reviews are actually trustworthy. She does review loads of American products that I can't find here in CH, which is annoying.
Pixiwoo - their youtube channel is good, the blog is absolutely terrible - it seems like they are paid to write positive reviews.
Lisa Eldridge - her videos are very, very good. Her blog posts are pretty good too.
Beaut.ie - fun and decent articles and reviews. Products tend to be fairly easy to find.
Lipglossiping.com - good posts, not just reviews. Mentioning the red lippy project is awesome and I like the lipstick league with the links to other blogs.
Makeupandbeautyblog.com - nice pics, well-written posts. I'm not so keen on cats though.
Cafemakeup - only expensive brands which is annoying, but loads of pics.

its-faaaabulous.de - German blog. Pretty good looks, pics are good and reviews are decent.

pshiiit.com - French blog about nail polish. Absolutely amazing pics - even if you don't speak French, it's worth having a look! Although I wouldn't wear all of the nail designs, they are truly awesome. I quite sure this blogger has done some collection with Bourjois - I think I noticed her pics, designs and link at the Bourjois stand at the supermarket.

A funny little thing I like about Temptalia is that she has a freckle on her lip, so you can easily tell how sheer or pigmented a lip product is on the lips.
