I'm 6ft and need a black dress for a funeral (and will get use after).

Its my Nannys funeral next Monday and I would like a dress to wear. I've looked on the tall bit of the Next website and anything I like is either out of stock or on a 2 week despatch. I've browsed the usuals; DP, LTS, Topshop etc to no avail.

I would like something I can wear again, is a respectable length (which rules out half the high street at my height) and isn't earth shatteringly expensive.

I'm a size ten, no boobs to speak off, bigger on the hips. Help please.

Does it have to be black? I have been to loads of funerals over the last 2 years ( bad couple of years in the Valium household) and no one wore black. I was surprised.

I'm 6ft too and I've actually had a lot of luck in Debenhams of all places, when it comes to dresses. I've got quite a few things from there, both knee length (proper knee length, not 'knee length if you're 5'2 but miniskirt if you're 6ft'), and full length. Full length tends to skim my ankles rather than actually hit the floor but I can live with that. Maybe worth trying if you did want a go at the high street?

Next has a black maxi dress with black flower detail On top it's reviews says you needed to 6ft to wear it in regular sizeif that helps

I'm not far off your height and my current most-worn item of clothing is a plain black maxi length dress found in the nightwear section in Primark - might be worth a shot if you can get to one? Cost about a tenner and I have been wearing it constantly since I bought it a few weeks ago. I was so surprised to find something that was the perfect length in there, and was definitely not looking for a dress in that particular section! I felt that the front was a little low cut so sewed it up a wee bit (the way it's cut makes it easy to hide any dodgy stitching), but could also have worn with a vest top underneath. Darts under the bust make it hang really nicely - I honestly can't believe I've been getting so many complements wearing something that should probably be a nighty!

Hope you find something, it's stressful enough trying to find clothes for a particular occasion at the best of times.
