I've got legs like a chicken crossed with a crocodile. Help me.

That's it really.

I have chicken skin (keratosis pilaris)

Nothing, other than a holiday in 40 degree+ heat, makes it go away.

The skin on my lower legs is also very dry at the moment. It's all cracked, like a crocodile's. My skinny jeans are all dandruffy when I take them off, they are so dry. Blush

I was really depressed today rubbing in moisturiser when I found the skin on my lower legs now also feels quite thick and horrible :( I can't possibly wear a dress this summer with them like this.

Has anybody actually found anything that really, actually, truly helps with KP? I think I need a miracle.

I've Googled things for years and nothing seems to work :(

An update! I no longer resemble a crocodile and I'm only a little bit chickeny!

I got a big tube of heel balm with urea that is just like Flexitol (without the smell) in Poundland.

I've been using that or Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray every other day or so over the past fortnight. I've also noticed (I don't know how!) that using insect repellant seems to help the KP.

I can now shave my legs without them bleeding. And yesterday I wore cut off trousers and caught sight of my legs in a mirror and they looked okay! Not like corned beef anyway :D

My legs aren't perfect but they are better than I think they have ever been.

I've also bought this Bottle o' Butter from an afro caribbean beauty shop. It smells divine and it's supposed to transform your skin. £2.50 for a huge bottle.

If you have KP, there is hope out there. Going to tackle my arms next, which aren't as bad so I don't think that will take long. Thank you for the advice :)

I find beta-carotene is enormously helpful for my KP. Just having a large-ish glass of carrot juice every day is enough to sort it out really, but you can also buy beta-carotene capsules in health food shops. I know it sounds weird, and I discovered it by accident after drinking carrot juice, but it has made a miraculous difference - and I've since seen other people online saying similar. Worth a try!
