Women of Scotland, wearing a dress today? What do you have on your legs?

It's hardly ever warm enough for a summer dress, and I haven't had a sun tan since I was a child. Bare legs is not really, truly an option.

So wtf do I do? Until last week, coloured tights were fine, and suddenly they aren't. I'm stuck. Help.

Footless tights. It's not that warm.

And it was the right decision as it has been raining since three-ish.

Oh GOOD I see some people agree that fake tan on blue porridge skin is not a good idea. I have long felt this. It is actually not a good idea on most women but there's something about the thin Scottish light that makes it worse, I think.

I wore leggings and was not sorry once the breeze got up Smile

I totally agree that until someone invents a better alternative then leggings plus dresses has to be the solution. (Sod anyone who disagrees, they can come and try to dress for a Scottish summer and see how boring it is.)

Fake tan looks ghastly on me. It's just totally the wrong colour. I can actually take a tan on holiday, but the colour I tan is nothing like any colour which comes out of a bottle.

Australian gold spray tan, the best!

Murraylover · 31/05/2013 20:40

I was in Madrid last weekend, 27degC & stylish women of all ages with nude/neutral tights of leg, equally bare legged on nights out. Never streaky fake tan, til I'm home again

Embrace the pasty blue skin. You know you want to!

(Used fake tan once. Just once. I chose a pale shade but still had to scrub my legs within an inch of my life to stop it from gathering in the scaly bits around my knees. The end result was so barely there it wasn't worth the expense and faff.)

Navy blue opaque tights here. In my defence, I am going on holiday in 3 weeks and am growing my leg hair pre-waxing!

50shadesofmeh · 31/05/2013 21:16

My skin is so pale it seems to be repelling fake tan, I might try the Sally Hansen stuff again but it doesn't really hide the lard :-)

I had a 50's style dress on today with natural tan hold ups-primark finest. My varicose veins are far too bad to go bare legged so I always wear hold-ups,stockings or tights. I favour a retro look so embrace tights!

I was wearing leggings under my dress today but did remove them in the privacy of my own garden. My legs are so white apart from the yellowing bruises. For some reason they look OK from he back but baaad from the front.

auldspinster · 31/05/2013 22:00

I went bare legged last week but I was in Brighton. Back in Edinburgh I'm sticking to trews.

mrsspongebob · 31/05/2013 23:18

No tights in may? We had snow and the snow gates were down 2 weeks ago. Jeans and converse all the way

viewwitharoom · 01/06/2013 09:31

Leggings or microfibre footless tights/leggings. Have some Gudrun sjoden ones which have been really useful and make a change from plain black. My legs are white and I am mixed race, has the colour been sucked from my legs? Am in Northern isles so should be grateful when I can shed the wellies!
