Which products to use if putting rollers in your hair to give it body?

I'm being bridesmaid in a few weeks and I will have my hair down with the front art swept to the side in a clip.

I want to give my hair a bit more body than it normally does so have been practising using rollers in damp hair to give it a boost. The problem is that it looks great at first but goes flat and limp again quite quickly.

What product/s should I be using?

Setting lotion!

Isn't that for old lady perms? I have shoulder length hair that is a bit lifeless not a Mrs Thatcher perm

Put them in almost dry hair and wet using the TIGI spray.

TIGI Curls Rock-its in a spray

Make sure they are bone dry before taking out.-at the last minute.

Spray with Elnette hairspray.

For longer lasting curls I would use a wand.They hold longer and better in my hair.

I've just done a practice and it looks best when I use the rollers to give it some body, then brush through with a round brush . I then used my straighteners to smooth the bits that needed it and put it my clips. Voila! Lovely hair with body and shape, but I can guarantee that it will look awful in an hour or two.

If that is what I am doing, would the TIGI spray be suitable for what I need?

i guess the problem with long hair is it drags out the curl. the spray is meant to encourage your hairs natural body .it will help but i think soft curls are tricky tp keep in long hair hair

V05 do a Backcomb Dry Spray that works pretty well. Or use a Babyliss Big Hair style.

I was just about to say you never mentioned anything about being a bridesmaid to me then I realised you are not who I thought - your username is very similar though!

I'll go into Boots tomorrow and have a look for the TIGI thing and the VO5. I'd love a Babyliss Big Hair but don't want the cost really when it will get hardly any use after the big day. I can at least have some practice runs with whatever I get before the big day.

TIGI Catwalk Sexed Up Body Building Tonic is the shizz. My hair is fine,flat and limp but with this stuff in it, it has volume and texture. I spray it into wet hair, scrunch then brush when it's dry and have volume that lasts for a couple of days as long as I don't wash my hair again

John Freida Luxurious Volume spray. It's available in Boots (Dark aqua container with clear lid)
My makeup artist friend told me to try this when I bought some rollers for the first time, I just squish some on the roots as I roll up, allow to dry (preferably overnight) and tease out with fingers.

It works great, really recommended. I have thin lifeless hair and it transforms mine.

Seriously, old fashioned setting lotion is amazing and it works better than anything else, and is dead cheap.

Setting lotion but don't put too much on or else it can make your hair look really dull. Alternatively a good bit of 1980s style hair mousse!

I currently have my hair dipped and it looks so much better curly then straight. I've taken to sleeping with the ends of my hair in bendy rollers and if I stick a bit of mousse on my hair and put the curlers in whilst my hair is damp the curls will stay all day (and I have very thick hair down to the middle of my back).

I've bought some volumising mousse at the supermarket and will give it another go and if that doesn't work then I'll try to get to Boots to buy TIGI/John Frieda/VO5. Thanks all for the suggestions.
