Gap Jeans Sizes instore and online

Okay so I'm usually a size 8 so I buy size 26 jeans at Gap. I'm a bit podgy at the moment so today I bought size 28 which fitted better although ever so slightly lose. I have just noticed that there's a size 27 online, which was not at the store. So is this like a size bigger than an 8 but smaller than a 10?

A 27 in Gap jeans would be equivalent to a generous UK8...so I guess that'd be a UK9

I wear 8/29R very comfortably in Gap when I'm usually struggling to squeeze into other brands' UK12 jeans, so, for Gap specifically I'd say:

US4 = 27 = UK9

US6 = 28 = UK11

US8 = 29 = UK13

US10 = 30 = UK15

In some of the styles they do half sizes.
Other brands do it too.
Which is great for when you're in between sizes.

That's genious!! I wish I had realised before I bought the 28 pain though. They don't do half sizes instore. At least I got my 30% with Grazia...

Given that sizes in UK shops vary so much, I wouldn't think of it as "bigger than an 8 and smaller than a 10" but "like a 10 in an ungenerous shop, or like an 8 in a generous shop"

My gap store do odd-number waist sizes.

Gap are definitely generous though. In the trousers (which come in clothes sizes rather than inches) I have to get a size smaller than I do in any other shop, and there is no part of me that measures the number of inches that my gap jeans say.

My store does half sizes in store. My gripe is that I can't order the short length in the cut I like online, but I can get them in-store. I wish they'd be consistent!

No, a size 26 is a UK8

Yes boodles - 26 corresponds to US2, which would (in most other brands) be a UK6, but in Gap, it'd be very generous UK6, but a tight UK8...so I'd say a UK7 :)

Sorry OP for hijacking but I'm also confused! I'm a 14/16 here and want to order gap jeans, what size do j go for? I ordered shorts last year from the US site and ordered a US 12 thinking this was a 16 but I needed to size up to a US 14

Longleggedlovely - That's really odd about you needing a US14 from the Gap online store. Like I said, above (and I live in Canada, so everything's in N.American sizes here) I'm between and UK12 and 14 and wear Gap US8 and would equate them to what would be a UK13 if such a size existed.

I'd say you should be 30/10 = UK15, but obviously you've tried larger that already...?!

I only have Gap jeans...and then only their "perfect boot" and "Long & Lean" styles. Maybe their shorts are cut differently...?
