Primer or BB cream. What's your favourite brand?

I had a sample of Clarins primer and I love it. Its about to run out so I need to replace it & am not sure I want to spend Clarins prices... any suggestions for an alternative?

Lanacane anti chaff gel. Seriously.

Grockle I used collection 2000 as had run out and was desperate with only boots to shop in. Wasn't bad but wouldn't buy again.

I love smash box- not sure how that compares to clarins price wise

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny · 23/05/2013 11:20

I've got the smashbox primer and quite like it, it hasn't changed my life or anything but would recommend it. Was previously using the No7 Matt under-make-up-base thing and smashbox one deff is nicer than that. Used a Lancôme one years ago which was OK but seemed to flake off if you rubbed it in too much

....only BB cream I have used is the No7 one and I liked it, have nothing to compare it to though

Garnier BB cream is lovely. Smells great too! Prefer it to a primer alone.

Gives your skin a bit of a glow too which helps when you've not slept and have a twitchy eye Smile

I don't even know what the difference is between BB cream and primer. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll tackle Boots on Saturday

I've tried most bb creams now - I have very oily, stressed skin and foundation (mineral aside) can flare me up.

I liked Kiehls a lot, skin79 and No7 for normal/oily.
Hated Estée Lauder (but loved the smell!) The rest I could take or leave. Have sampled Clarins and it has a nice finish, might not be right for my skin though...

forgetmenots · 23/05/2013 23:08

Primer is an undercoat, usually colourless. Bb cream is more like a tinted moisturiser but usually has skincare benefits like SPF and pore refiner...

Also liked Dr Jart (boots stock a range of these..)

I'll stop now! Anyone tried the la Roche posay one?!

SingingSilver · 24/05/2013 00:16

I wanted to love Dr Jart but it was too dark on me. Oddly it was recommended to me by someone who is paler than I am!

I like the Max Factor CC complexion enhancer, and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream, I haven't tried any high end ones.

I like any silicone primers, Gosh Velvet Touch, Maybelline The Smoother. The only one I tried that was terrible was the MUA one, it was like very diluted PVA glue!

Have just used the Aldi primer today.... loved it!!

As good as any other I've used.
