If you could only have two nail varnish colours for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Curious as I'm investing in a gel system!

For me I think a beigey taupey everyday one and either a warm coral or a bright red. That's three!

I only have two. Don't really do nails. I have a classic red (Rimmel Ruby Red at the moment, I think) and always a pinky gold on the go. It's my "nude", real nude makes me look dead. It's what I wear on my toes all the time.

A dark blue and A light pink.... gel colours can blend my friend.....

umlauf I will seek out the Basil Street. I rarely wear polish on my hands ( although currently wearing some Barry M gel pink) and only ever have really short nails. Cherries in the Snow is a classic and I bet it looks great with a tan.... Will swing by the Revlon section next time I'm in Boots.

Yes nail shape is key.. My elderly maiden aunts all have two inch pointed talons! I think I used to have the bourgeois one you mentioned pigofhappiness (love your username btw!)

Trouble is I've gone right off dark dark colours due to the endless battle of the chipping that its hard to get back into them even knowing they will last!

I do also love a good pale grey. Had pale grey for my wedding, although the manicurist was really arsey about it but all brides have a French manicure, non??!

pocket its not cheap though so test it out before you buy. Nails inc last on me (they're just about the only brand that do) but on friends they chip straight away. I think they are £11.

My advice is get a sheer pink/ nude. Then you can put your ordinary varnish on the top, and take it off with non-acetone remover :)

I would have a silver glitter and a soft (near see through) pink.

I agree that for painted nails the short squoval shape looks best, unfortunately it looks ridiculous on me when my nails are bare because I have very white nail tips which are very curved in shape, if I square the nails off I get a much wider strip of white at the edges than in the middle. So I have to go with a slightly curvier shape.

Mauve Kiss by Maybelline which is not as light as in those pics. On me it is the perfect taupe/nude look, without making my hands look dead.

And a coral. I am yet to find the perfect one though!

WhoKnows - me too. I just get round that by not having bare nails tbh!

I can't seem to keep up with doing them all the time Jackie and I have never fancied gels etc. I usually do them about once a week, depending how well it lasts they get about half the week bare that way.

I just can't get on board with taupes and beiges. Or browns. I just really dislike how they look.

I love how neon polish looks with a tan but I know better with my pasty Irish colouring.
