I was sorting through my cosmetics and thought "There's nothing here that I would go out purposefully to buy again"

Face-creams, cleansers I've bought over and over. I've ordered new ones when I've got near the end.

But not cosmetics.

What makes you want to buy repeatedly?
(Might steal ideas Grin )

i used to use dylon eyelash dye
too scared to try it now after horrendous reaction at salon

BinksToEnlightenment · 20/05/2013 22:38

I would add NARS Super Orgasm, but I've only ever had to buy one. I wear it every day and don't find it at all too glittery. To think I was almost warned off it!

Also Dream Cream by Lush. It's just the good shit. And you get a mega big pot of it.

50shadesofmeh · 20/05/2013 23:39

These are the things that immediately get replaced as at the age of 40, I finally have a combination of things that make me look good and look better now than I did 20 years ago, both with make up on (I now have a good combination of stuff that actually suit me and if i look like a clown, i take it off) and without (I have better skin which is rarely dry and I rarely spotty, a real change from the past where I seemed to oscillate between the two):

Kiehls papaya and pinapple facial scrub
Liz Earle cleanse & polish
Kiehls creme d'elegance repairteur (autumn/winter months)
Liz Earle moisturiser for combination skin (spring/summer)
Liz Earle toner
Nars SPF 15 primer (now prefer this to mac)
Nars matte foundation (now prefer this to all the various mac ones I have used over the years)
Nars long lasting eyeliner (recent convert to this)
Mac blushers (recently experimented with nars and decided that was an expensive mistake)
Mac eyeshadows (I have about 20 of them!)
Body shop Shea butter body butter
L'occitaine Shea butter body butter
L'occitaine body butter foot cream
Mac prep & prime for eyelashes
Mac prep & prime for lips

Things I am not wedded to:
Lipsticks and lip glosses
Lip balms
Mascara (although currently using a magazine freebie that's very good!)
Shower gels
Perfumes
Nail polish

Nehru · 21/05/2013 07:14

Eliza22 · 21/05/2013 08:33

The only items I've bought a second (some, a third) time...

Mac Brit Wit cream blush
Clinique Soft Bloom lippie
Lancôme Hypnose Mascara

And Roc anti-wrinkle creams.

teaandthorazine · 21/05/2013 16:47

Benefit Boing concealer
Benefit Dandelion blusher
Vaseline Rosy Lips
Astral moisturiser
Pure jojoba oil from Holland & Barrett

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2013 17:51

Are Mac eyeliners as good as Urban Decay?

And do I need Benefit Boing, or can I get something better/cheaper?

CecyHall · 21/05/2013 18:35

Soap and Glory Feel Good Factor face cream

Barry M lash modelling mascara

CND sticky nail base

QuinnFabray · 21/05/2013 18:51

Yes, I love the Barry M Lash Modelling mascara. I've repurchased that. And the Boots 17 Va Va Voom. Both better than any Dior or Guerlain mascara I've tried, and a quarter of the price.

DXBMermaid · 21/05/2013 19:00

Always:
Paradontax mineral toothpaste
Mitchum anti perspirant
Dermalogica eyecream with spf
Khiels Abyssine cream spf 23
8 hour spf 50 sun cream
Paul Smith Roses eau d'parfum
Aveda Shampure shampoo and conditioner
Clarins eye make-up remover

Cosmetic wise I would/have replaced:
Nars Orgasm blush
Bobbi brown BB cream spf 35
Boujours eyeliners
Chanel illusion d'ombre eyeshadows

Still searching for the perfect mascara, lippy and conceler. Also haven't found the perfect facewash yet.

Dawndonna · 21/05/2013 19:03

I have just ordered the Nars eyebrow pencil in Ipanema. I have alopecia, and hate all the red/brown pencils. Thank you MrsBertMacklin

Dawndonna · 21/05/2013 19:04

Oh, and I would not be without Roche de la Posay moisturiser or my Caudalie perfume.

Mominatrix · 21/05/2013 19:05

My makeup routine is quite boring - pretty much the same for the past 20 years!

Mac "O" lipstick
Chanel Nude Eyebrow Pencil
Benetint
Chanel liquid eyeliner
Guerlin bronzer
Mac Spice lipliner

Probably time for a makeover, but I just can't be arsed.
