what exactly are 'mom' jeans

i have just ordered some topshops ones but why are they 'mom' jeans? am hoping they will not attract younger buyers Wink

There is a trend at the moment to look like an American 'soccer mom'. I saw this video of a YouTuber showing off her soccer mom jeans and shirts if you want ideas of what to wear with them!
