NARS blusher- I made a mistake- how much to list for on Ebay?

I'm gutted. I forked out for Nars foundation last week in John Lewis, but dithered over the blusher- in Deep Throat. I thought it was a little bit too pink/bright for my pale skin but the asst thought it was good. I decided to order it online from JL 2 days later and it's come. I have used it to try and it's not right for me.
If I'd bought it in person I'd try taking it back but buying online they won't do an exchange, I know.
It cost £20.50 so anyone any ideas about listing it on Ebay and for what price?

There's a used one on eBay at the moment with a bid of 15 quid plus 4.50 delivery.

Personally if I were to buy this, already used, I wouldn't want to pay more than 10, but some people obviously will.

I have just had a listing withdrawn from ebay for selling used cosmetics. It was also a blusher. I had a bid on it & 25 people were watching it, but I got an email from them & they withdrew the sale stating it was against the rules.
However I have sold at least 2 used cosmetics with them in the past.

That delivery is steep- costs less than that to send a very small package.

Oh Ginger that's mean of them. I have sold a couple of items previously and it was fine but maybe they have tightened up?

You could try saying an assistant recommended both colours and you chose one and ordered from home? They may still swap, JL are good for that

it is against ebay rules to sell used make up on ebay but it depends if someone reports you for doing it in the first place.

Is it a cream blusher? Could you mix it with highlighter or moisturiser in your palm before applying? I do this with foundation and its lovely.

It's powder not cream.

I may try taking it back- I don't go to that JL that often- very few of them stock Nars, which is why after having my colours matched I decided to order it from their website.

I suppose it's worth asking!

I think I'm correct in saying that under the Distance Selling Regs you have 7 days to return something if you don't want it. With JL you can return by post using the pre-paid returns label on your delivery note or take back to a store. This includes makeup.

Surely not if you've tried it and don't like it though Poppy?

I'd email JL Bella and tell them what's happened - they may offer a refund you never know.

Would be great if you could Poppy- but I am sure their website says that personal items are excluded from refunds or exchanges- things like earrings and make up- but I will phone to ask.

For anyone who's interested this is from their website- I think the fact is I have opened it and tired makes it a no-no, but may plead with assts in store for an exchange.

There are 2 FB sites I belong to where people sell/swap used makeup. Beauty Box Swaps and Beauty Box Swappers. Why don't you have a look at them? Incidentally, couldn't you describe your item on Ebay as New/other. You could say that you have just swatched it but it is unsuitable. I would be tempted to do that.

If the makeup item is has been opened and tested, but is not "used" it's fine to sell on eBay. You just have to word it carefully. Don't say it's been used, say it's been opened and tested once. Buyers who buy makeup on eBay regularly know what that means.

I do it all the time. I love makeup, and collect it, and often buy and sell makeup that has been opened but is basically unused.

I would list Nars Deep Throat at a starting price of about £9.99 plus £3.00 postage, and you will probably get about £15.00 or maybe even more for it.

I always state the truth, that the item is a genuine item from my personal makeup collection and has been opened and tested hygienically.

I wanted to say thanks and update.

The latest on this which may help other is- I emailed JL Customer services online and have just had a reply. They have mis-read my email for a start, thinking that I want to exchange the foundation! I explained in that email that I had been colour matched for foundation and bought some, but didn't buy ( on the day) the blusher- but bought online a few days later.

The email said they had spoken to the Nars counter in the store where purchased ( remember they think this is foundation I'm on about!) who have refused to exchange as it's been opened.

I have emailed JL again pointing out they have mis read my email. I await another reply!

Meanwhile it is interesting to note the response from Nars. I have had exchanges from other companies like Bobbi Brown and know that Clinique will refund or exchange unsuitable products - so bear this in mind when you are shopping.

I know that no company is obliged to refund or exchange but as a measure of good will- as I'd already spent £30 with them- I think it might have been good customer relations to be more helpful.

Meanwhile I am getting the product ready to Ebay.
