how to make semi perm fake lashes last longer?

So.,..i finally went for it today. I'm a complete lash virgin, I haven't even used the strip ones before. Ones done today...meant to last approx 4 weeks. Any tips on keeping them intact? Does not help that I blink a lot, and have greasy lids. I don't wear eyeshadow / primer. Nor do i use eye cream. Lashes are fixed to my top lashes only. I will be applying liner and mascara tomorrow. I'm guessing removing the liner won't be a problem as the lashes aren't attached at the roots. If i jiggle a cotton bud soaked in make up remover, i'm sure i could easily remove the liner without disturbing. But the mascara?? Should i just do the tips, and leave on for a few days at a time?

Also i was thinking....i have Clarins Double Fix. The clear mascara sealant. Would a coat of that make these lashes go the distance?

(basically the falsies are bonded to my lashes with an adhesive...they look really natural and neat..they are long but very fine so to notice them, i will need mascara)

have never ever put mascara on them. would think it would ruin them.

hmmm i really wanted the more non natural looking ones, so would stand out and i wouldnt need makeup. But as it's my first time, she insisted on putting on the natural ones. My eyes look dead as i've just got them and no makeup on right now. They would look amazing with mascara, they're not going to show on their own. She said i could use it but be very careful to remove . I'm really scared to use it but the whole point was to go for a bolder look!

I think trying to get it off would potentially loosen the glue they're stuck on with. Tomorrow try it with eyeliner and if you're not happy with the effwct phone and go back.

You can't put mascara on them. Didn't she go over maintenance with you

I've had mines for two years now with weekly maintenance top ups. They're really easy to look after tbh, a gentle brush through in the morning and try to sleep on your back if you can, it's not absolutely essential though.

Oh sorry last post - hmm....

Do not use anything oily anywhere near them. It dissolves the adhesive.

Mascara will clog them up. You won't get it back off without removing some of the lashes.

You will be fine with eyeliner though. Remove with a moistened cotton bud (I don't use any products on it just to be safe).?

yeh she said about maintenance...to get no water on them (that's ok, i'll just use wipes around my eye area) and i could wear mascara but must remove very gently. It wasn't the most professional salon though. she had her phone (v loud ringtone) next to my head on a ledge (literally almost touching my ear!) and she was on it about 80% of the time she was doing my lashes, and the rest of the time chatting to other staff , not in english (is english salon) and they kept giggling, one of them was singing and dancing... i felt really vulnerable and paranoid! (obviously i couldn't see them). I'm probably being mean aren't i... it was just a happy environment and i'm being a grump. but i've been a retail manager most of my working life and i'm pretty hot on customer service (and no mobiles allowed etc)

or...i could be horribly grubby, put long lasting mascara on the tips (eg my normal Clinique lash power) and ...not remove runs & hides

oh and she said not to put any makeup on for 24 hrs. so i could apply mascara / liner tomorrow pm, she said

I really wouldn't use mascara unless you want horrible clogged clumps instead of lashes. Water strangely won't hurt them but it will release fumes from the glue and make your eyes sting like crazy.

I don't like the sound of the salon either tbh.

Can I check it's individual lashes she used and not clusters?

i couldn't see what she was doing! i have a feeling she applied a few a at a time? she did them all along, not just half way. it took an hour or so. she has applied them v well, they look natural. but it wasn't the most professional salon. I had the distinct feeling they were taking the piss out of me when i couldn't see, as all the giggling and laughter stopped once i could open eyes again!

also... i never mind the smell of garlic on someone but it's different if you are leaning over someone, right in their face..for over an hour. She was sniffing the whole time too (i mean, really snorting it back) and it was constant.. worried about snot pouring on me you'd think you'd have a good blow before starting on client. Weird thing was she kept pushing my right shoulder down (well, i assume it was her! i couldn't see!) and i swear i had been relaxed, sitting still, not fidgeting. So she wasn't trying to keep me still. It's like what dentists sometimes do when they are baring down on you..trying to extract a tooth... i didn't mind as such, i just thought it odd..

The one thing i do find really rude though, (being that my background is customer service) is to ignore the english client in an english salon and spend the entire time conversing in another language with your staff who are doing the same. That's not racist..it's rudeness.. to not say a word to client the whole time you are doing their treatment, just to move their body parts around without speaking to them...it just creates an atmosphere of exclusion... in my last job i employed people of many backgrounds/ races and in the back room of the shop there would be a whole mix of languages..no probs..but on the shop floor... it was english all the way...and certainly no mobile phones..

You can wear mascara on them, but it has to be an oil free brand. A lot of lash brands sell their own mascara to wear with them.

Regarding removal, the simple oil free eyemakeup remover should remove the mascara.

That said, much as this sounds skanky, when I had them and wore mascara on them, I wouldn't remove the mascara. I'd have a little sweep around with a cotton bud that had been wetted with the Simple stuff, to remove any panda eyes thing that happened at night, and reapply it, but actually what rule book says you need to remove it? We wash our faces to stop our pores clogging but nothing bad happens if you leave mascara on.

Sure I prefer to do a lovely hot cloth cleanse and get everything all clean and buffed but you can't do this with extensions anyway.
