Hoping to get job after SAHM-ing for 4 years, tell me what you think

I've been a SAHM for just over 4 years and I have an interview coming up in the next few weeks for my dream job. I'd rather not say what it is but it is smart workwear dress code in a professional setting.

But, having not worked for the last 4 years I'm skint, in an ideal world I'd get a beautiful new outfit (Next, Monsoon) that you can tell is good quality but the money just isn't there so not an option.

So, need to think cheaper but don't want to get a boring, cheap black suit. What about a jacket like this Boucle one with a shift dress like Matalan one or maybe this NewLook one?

I have a smart pair of black mary jane court shoes, almost identical to these that I can wear so need an outfit that I can wear with them or I'd need to buy shoes too.

Good outfit.

Without knowing the setting, I'd say that was a suitable interview outfit for most workplaces.

Good luck Smile

outfit looks good.I'd go for the red new look dress though that's just me!

Good luck, hope you land that job.

Finlay What would you put with the red dress in terms of a jacket?

Sorry to be cryptic about the setting, I think it would out me a bit.

Nice outfit! I was told recently to wear something that makes you stand out so that they remember you, eg. the one with the red shoes, so maybe the red dress might make you stand out a little more than the black one. To be honest I just wish I had the figure to wear a dress like that one Angry

Whatever you decide to wear - good luck Smile

No, no, avoid the red dress I think- it would be too try-hard.

You could add colour with earrings, scarf or bag- but I'd still avoid red and black together for interview.

I'd still go with the jacket you like. Black sheer tights, your mary-jane court shoes.
or a cropped black cardi?

I'm hoping that a good outfit, rather than something boring like a plain suit will give me the confidence I need to show them what I can do. All these years playing with play-doh have been great fun but not worked wonders for my professional confidence Blush

I'm not sure about the red dress, I like it but I think I might feel safer and more in my comfort zone in the grey or black one. I'm in between sizes so I don't want to order online so I will have to go and see what they have in the shops. I might do a trip out to a big mall then everything is under one roof and I can go back and forth between the shops trying on things until I get it right.

I just want to look the part because I really need the job and I know I could be great at it (big head alert) I just need to chance.
