What to wear if forecast says 19 degrees!?

A basic question I know but I'm always confused by this kind of weather. Too hot for black tights. But not hot enough for bare legs. Or is it?

Can't do long skirts, I am very short. Sometimes I put on leggings under a skirt but I always feel scruffy and if I'm wearing something too young (I am 40, leggings are cheap and bobbly). So what to wear? Do I just go for bars legs and risk shivering? Or is jeans the only answer?

What do you all wear in spring?

I usually brave it with bare legs, but wear a few layers on top half to compensate. I just can't wear tights now either.

MarshaBrady · 06/05/2013 19:47

That's if I'm not doing jeans of course. Then I just do skinnies, ballet flats and t. Jumper if chilly.

dexter73 · 06/05/2013 19:47

I would go for bare legs.

MrsPresley · 06/05/2013 19:49

Would you really be shivering in 19 degrees?

I think thats very warm.

Anyway I wear jeans or trousers all year, so no help at all Grin

PolyesterBride · 06/05/2013 19:52

Is it very warm? I have no clue.

Right it looks like its going to be bare legs then. Legs that have not seen light since last year!

This is my favourite sort of weather to dress for - not too hot, but not cold! Cropped trousers, a tee and ballerinas and a good handbag - easy peasy dressing Smile

PolyesterBride · 06/05/2013 20:14

Can short people wear cropped trousers? My sister (5'10") says not. I am wondering if narrow ones are ok, but baggy ones aren't. (I am 5'2").

Baggy cropped trousers are not ok on anyone ever! Shock

badguider · 06/05/2013 20:37

ankle-length cotton khakis... and bare feet and sandals. with a light and cool top.

badguider · 06/05/2013 20:38

i'd be warm enough in bare legs at 19deg but i don't really do bare legs except weekends and on holiday.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 06/05/2013 20:38

3/4 length jeggings with a comfy top and flats (I'm 5'2" and 3/4)

Hopefully · 06/05/2013 20:40

I do bare legs and a sweater/scarf. Easier to add layers on the top than the bottom half!

PolyesterBride · 06/05/2013 20:55

Yes, maybe I need some of those khakis type trousers. The ones with the little turn ups at the bottom. But again, can short people wear these things? Like these: m.dorothyperkins.com/mt/www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=1&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=4545653&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208657&parent_categoryId=208600&pageSize=20&refinements=category~[261042|208657]&noOfRefinements=1

I'd say that shape of trouser is perfect for short people - less swamping than baggy trousers... ankle length makes you look taller.

YoniOno · 06/05/2013 21:39

Or look at Gap slim cropped trousers, lots of different colours and patterns - same price as the DP ones but pure cotton with a little Elastane, really flattering cut. Boden's 'bistro crop' also good. The simpler the better IMO, as another poster said add layers to top half if you get chilly.
