What should I wear with a white lace dress?

Hi all,

I bought a lovely white lace dress on Ebay a month or so ago. DH wants to take me to a swanky restaurant in a couple of weeks and I thought I might wear this dress but I'm unsure what to wear with it.

So, the dress is sleeveless and round necked with a slight A-line to the skirt and above the knee. It is not at all see through - the lace is over a full lining. Any idea what colour should go with it? I've got cardi's in lime green, beige, navy, black, white that are waist length and a couple of long ones. My only proper shoes are black and I've got lots of heeled sandals and a pair of brown sling backs as well as lots of boots. My legs would need to be covered but you can't wear tights with white can you?

To be honest, it's quite hard to match anything with white. So something minimalist if it's lace as you want to show it off. A cropped cardigan or bolero perhaps?

Nude, dahling! Here are some lovely nude heels from Marksies. "Marksies?!" I hear you shriek, but seriously, they're really comfy. I have them in both the nude and the black, love them. If you want something lower they also do a smaller heel in the same autograph range.

Get yourself some decent tights. Pretty Polly have a "naturals" range which are very, very good. You can't tell you're wearing any, they just sort of smooth over imperfections. There's a colour called sunkissed tan iirc, go for that unless you're very pale. They have them in Boots. Top if off with a white cardigan for warmth in the cab!

It took me a minute to get that . It isn't at all weddingy. The lace is more like crotchet iyswim.

I'm happy with the cropped cardi look, what colours do you think? And what should I do about my white-as-the-dress legs?

Ooh, I like those shoes. So a nude coloured cardi to go with it or something a bit more colourful? I'm hopeless at this kind of thing.
