Trousers that aren't jeans. Or linen. Or cargo. Or... Or... Or...

I need to get out of my jeans, they're all I wear and I'm bored!

I'm the coldest person in the world, so it's not warm enough to get my trusty linen trousers out yet.

I like to look smart-ish without being in stuffy tailoring. Comfort is a must to chase around after 4 DCs 9yo and under. I'm 5'23" and size 8ish. I like quite a high waist, as despite being petite I do have a bit of a tum. Which is nothing to do with scoffing a whole packet of Jaffa cakes, honestly. Ahem.

Please help, wise S&B MNetters!

I think chinos are the way to go! Bought a pair of super flattering ones from asda of all places! And you can roll them up so no issues with length..... They go with everything, I'm so in love! Also have a pair from DPs that have lasted 2 summers

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 21:51

Chinos? I'm sure my brother wore those in the '80s Grin

Do they need ironing?

I just got these www.oasis-stores.com/sateen-slim-leg-trouser/trousers-&-shorts/oasis/fcp-product/3450159819, they are rather lovely, and good dress up and down trousers, Saying that, got stupidly short legs, so they aren't actually cropped on me.

Monty27 · 29/04/2013 22:12

Chinos (if you shake them and hang them up immediately when they're washed and depends on fabric they don't necessarily need ironed), also capri pants.

Do I mention leggings, or jeggings? :)

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:15

Jeggings are the work of the devil. Why? Just why?! They're really elasticated waistband jeans like my mum used to buy cheap at the market!!!

Leggings are ok if they're not see through and have a decent arse-covering top that's not a dress.

It's dawning on me that I'm a chocolate scoffing trouser snob

Chinos! Why didn't I think of them. I want some trousers whic aren't jeans or skinnies since I have 4 skinnies already but which can be dressed up/down and have pockets. I will be eyeballing his thread with interest.

Gillybobs · 29/04/2013 22:22

These are amazing www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Trousers-Jeans/Trousers/WM338/Womens-Zip-Ankle-Skimmer.html

Code SIZE gets 20%off at the moment. Also the Boden skinny jeans come in brilliant colours and would be a nice change from ordinary denim

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:22

Ok, so I'm on the hunt for non-1989 style chinos. Preferably high waisted without being granny pants.

There are some really lovely coloured light cotton jean type skinny fit trousers around at the moment. H&M has a lot of styles and colours (especially corals and greens). Plus patterned cotton trousers with some really lovely prints at most high street stores atm. Which will hide the chocolate stains.

Rooble · 29/04/2013 22:23

Ooh, I've got those Oasis ones too, and they're gorgeous

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:24

Gilly They're lovely, really like them. Not sure if I'll need a 6 or 8 though.

WAS

Ouch, was just a suggestion. Depends on what style you are.

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:25

I like your thinking Ton

You'll get a free returns label if you use that code so maybe order both and return?

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:26

I was just joking Monty :)

Monty27 · 29/04/2013 22:33

Oops sorry WAS had a momentary sense of humour transplant Grin.

I bought some cotton capri style trousers in H&M they're lovely (and they're bright red Grin) They have every colour under the rainbow mind. Coral?

I also got some flowery jeans, takes you away from the denim.

I am a wee bit daring I have to say.

I'm not mad on jeggings/leggings but I can get away with them with long jumpers/tops and naice boots, scarves etc. as I'm quite short.

ShatnersBassoon · 29/04/2013 22:37

I got some really comfy chinos in Gap, short leg and highish waist.

WeAreSix · 29/04/2013 22:38

Scarves I love, with you there. I've just never got the whole jeggings thing. They make my poddy tummy even poddier (no such word really!)

I was wondering about palazzo (sp?) trousers but they might be too flowy and swamp me?

They're nice Jeremy, are they low rise though?

Didn't think of Fat Face, thank you Wafer. I'll look at their website tomorrow. Need to sleep while baby sleeps and she's snoring away now :)

OP posts:
JeremyPiven · 29/04/2013 22:49

Mmm ...they're not exactly high rise, but not super-low either. I wore with a belt and managed to avoid overhang.

Only £20 though too :)
