Nail brushes-are they supposed to be one use only?

Like you are scrubbing in for theatre or something?

I know it's boring, but I am rather frustrated with nailbrushes having secret metal in them that goes rusty after a few days. or else being made of wood and going manky in a week.

Am I supposed to by them by the dozen and throw them away everytime?

Well I don't think it's boring

I'm having issues of my own - they are never firm enough for me!

I don't want one that's all floppy like a baby hairbrush that lays flat after a few goes, I need one that can withstand a good scrubbing!

The secret metal is the wire holding the bristles in place, hidden inside the plastic handle. It rusts & dribbles out of the bristle holes. There are other perfectly good ways of holding bristles in place - toothbrushes, for instance, do not contain secret metal.

I have noticed that - as with potato peelers - price counts for nothing.

A 29p brush might last for years, with pristine bristles that never soften & curl even in the hottest water. Or a £4 one might look like you've been scrubbing out toilets with it by the end of the week.

But when you break or lose the 29p one, you will never be able to remember where it came from.

Current nailbrush has a clear perspex handle, which appears to have prompted them not to use secret metal. Bristles are holding up well - wish I could remember where I picked it up .

My cheapy one from homebargains is blue clear plastic and goes through the dishwasher.

I don't like the look of wooden ones.

The last one I bought was from superdrug with a translucent handle-I bought it on the 12th April and it already looks like crap.

Ah, I've been hunting everywhere for a decent nail brush. I don't want one with metal bits in it, they are useless after a few uses because of the rust they accumulate and the wooden ones smell funky after they've got wet a few times.
