HELP please. Trendy 12yr old nephew wants clothes!

Hello, my lovely nephew has asked for clothes for his 12th birthday. He has become achingly trendy and I have not a clue what to buy! If I try to get any information out of him I just get met with "well, you know, anything really..." :)
What are boys wearing now? Where should I be looking!? Help.
TIA

Give a voucher or money.

You'll get it wrong

somethingscary · 20/04/2013 18:47

Superdry - voucher or clothes. Much cheaper if you are near an outlet store like Bicester. That's what my 12 year old would want.

Iseeall · 20/04/2013 18:49

I'd head straight to holister and get him a polo shirt.

Parachutes · 20/04/2013 18:50

LadyMountbatten- good idea, you're probably right.

Somethingscare- thanks for the tip, I'll have a look online.

Any other suggestions?

I agree - voucher or money. DS (12) fancies himself a bit and he wears chinos, polo shirts, hoodies, Vans, snapbacks(yuk), and loves anything branded, especially Superdry/Vans

Thanks iseeall and bigtillymint, I'm looking at all your suggestions online!

USC, topman and superdry are my sons favourites (he is 14)

Drywhiteplease · 21/04/2013 00:17

If you go to Hollister take a head torch.
My DS would like money.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/04/2013 01:29

Envy @ trendy 12yo.

My 13yo is so flipping uninterested in clothes. I had to drag him out for shoes.I had to ask one of the salestaff what 13yo boys were wearing.
I ask DS what his mates wear .
"I dunno. I don't look "
I measure him and buy him clothes, he doesn't give a monkeys.

I go past SuperDry and say "Do you like anything in there"?

He's meh Hmm

He might like Hollister because he could escape from me nagging.

(11yo DD complete opposite. I grab the basket and she says "Follow me" )

SavoyCabbage · 21/04/2013 02:14

Can you get him one of those vouchers that can be used across the whole shopping centre?

roundtheback · 21/04/2013 02:27

Easy. Hollister Grin
I think there is an age threshold on the head torch .... the teenagers appear not to need one. Sadly I do....

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 21/04/2013 08:12

I think you need to know his tribe, for example I know trendy teenagers who love Jack Wills and others who would be mortified to be seen wearing it.

OneLittleLady · 21/04/2013 08:15

If he hasn't let on about a specific brand, then I'd go for money or vouchers. Seems the safest option. A lot of shopping centres do vouchers that can be used in most of the shops (I think they say if there's specific exclusions) so that might be a good plan.

somethingscary · 21/04/2013 17:23

I agree about the "tribe". Mine is def a superdry not hollister or jack wills.

ShebaQueen · 21/04/2013 17:34

Not just a headtorch for Hollister, but earplugs too - I am getting old!

However I do agree re Superdry, Vans and Jack Wills.

LadyMountbatten · 21/04/2013 23:17

God no to hol lister.
