Jersey Maxi Dresses - would I get away wearing these aged 40

Thinking ahead for the summer, I have never found the perfect maxi dress. I always tend to look much bigger. I am a size 10-12 and the big 40. I was looking at jersey dresses. Am I too old for these?

Am not a fan of the dress particularly but I can't see how you would be too old for it! Go for it!

Absolutely fine. I really like it and as long as u feel good in it go for it x

Sainsburys had a partic. nice version of the first one in a blue stripe with a belt a few weeks ago. I think they're lovely, see the post "if you're thinking about...long grey dresses" on the sartorialist recently for some inspiration?

fraggle I'm 44 and have been looking at those dresses so you're definately not too old!
They are quite reasonable as well, so worth giving a try.

I really hope you aren't too old. I'm 42 and still wear maxi dresses....

Not sure about DP quality these days but I bought a red bandeau jersey version 3 years ago which is still going strong and always gets compliments. Looks v expensive but was £18 Smile

I plan to live in these kind of dresses all summer. I'm 45

HintofBream · 20/04/2013 08:08

Don't be absurd. I am more than 20 years older than you and have just bought a similar one. It looks great. Provided you have the figure for it no problem. Why do you think these types of dresses are only for the under forties?

AlwaysOneMissing · 20/04/2013 08:20

That dress is lovely, I like how casual it is - a lot of maxi dresses look a little dressy for everyday wear I find. You are definitely not too old for it, if you have the figure and feel confident in it. I always feel self
Conscious in that style of dress - I find them very unforgiving.
