Looking for a tan loafer and have already asked for views on one idea I had - which confirmed my own feelings they weren't right.

Since then, and after helpful suggestions, have researched the question in depth and would be glad of views - and preferences - between these:

They are both the sort of quality and price I'm looking for - ie not Clarks but not as pricy as Tods.

Want classic but not modern, and no styles with the horsy metal 'double trims' or whatever they're called across the front, please.

I prefer no.1...especially for summer as they look a lot lighter.

Definitely the first ones as I was actually looking at that very pair this morning! Very classic and chic.

The first ones are gorgeous and look ideal for spring. The second ones are too heavy.

Great - we all seem agreed. Off to try them tomorrow.
