I'm stuck, I want it to be funny and original.
Someone is going (female) as Freddie mercury, which will be very funny!
Two others going as cher and Tina Turner.

I think someone will probably go as Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Any ideas will be gratefully received

TIA

I love these suggestions. Dh said Neil Kinnock too.
Someone is going as Boy George, I'm gutted about that, I loved him when I was a kid, I even had a Boy George doll :)
I thought Roland rat might be a good one or the goblin king, with socks as stuffing :o
I want someone easily identifiable, so that I don't have to tell people who I am.

Went to one of those recently and wore a bright pink taffeta bridesmade dress, puffy skirt and all. And sling back stilettos. Many people were dressed up as Madonnas. The best ones was a group of three blokes dressed up as ghost busters. A bloke dressed up as JR which was very good, and there were a couple of excellent Laura Ashley type flowery dresses with big glasses - not a very glamorous costume but very efficient.

I still have the dress, size 12, bought it from ebay. Do you want it?

blueberryupsidedown · 17/04/2013 14:17

Oh and there was one john mcenroe he was brilliant, would work well for a women too, white short, tennis top, afro wig and red hair band!

snowgal · 17/04/2013 14:21

A ghostbuster, Rocky, Indiana Jones, Tom Cruise from Topgun, Terminator, A Gremlin - the possibilities are endless....

FaceLikeAPickledYonion · 17/04/2013 14:22

That's very kind of you blueberry doubt it would fit me though, I'm a size 14. :)

Oh DH went in a shell suit. His own shell suit, real original, which had been hidden at his mum's house for 25 years!

TickledYonion · 17/04/2013 14:30

A rubiks cube. You just need a big square box that will go over your torso. Colour in the sides and make a hole in the top and bottom for you to fit in.

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 17/04/2013 14:39

We had a 1982 themed party for DH's 30th - had:

Indiana Jones and Marion (in red Trousers get up)
Danger Mouse and penfold
John McEnroe (wig, headband, short shorts)
Adam Ant

Plus lots of generic tragic 80's dress ups - I still have my sz 14 electric blue prom dress (I was channelling madonna in my head Grin)

I would go for it and pick a character from a film and properly copy the outfit

FruitOwl · 17/04/2013 17:13

Jane Fonda, in the workout gear?

FruitOwl · 17/04/2013 17:14

Or MC Hammer?

LizaRose · 17/04/2013 17:15

A smurf.

orangeandlemons · 17/04/2013 17:19

The best one is pacman and the ghosts. You obviously need other people and you have to move around keeping the right order of ghosts all the time.

Or: Morrisey/smiths fan. Boyfriend jeans, baggy shirt and flowers in your back pocket....
