Skincare help. Alternatives to AHA's please?

I'm looking for a chemical exfoliant that isn't an AHA. My skin doesnt seem to like it much. I've tried different brands and strengths but all it does is leave my skin red and irritated, even the morning after using it.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to try?

I've just checked my two products and they both contain Glycolic Acid, so it looks as if that's the problem ingredient for me.
